Play-off season is upon us in the EFL and the action gets underway on Friday night as Hull host Millwall in the Championship.

The Tigers confirmed their place in the top six after beating Norwich and leapfrogging Wrexham into the final play-off berth.

Millwall, meanwhile, just missed out on automatic promotion as Ipswich refused to release their hold on second place.

In the other semi-final at Saturday lunchtime, FA Cup semi-finalists Southampton head north to face Middlesbrough.

And it is those two sides the bookies are backing to reach the promised land and win promotion to the Premier League.

Southampton currently lead the betting at 15/8 to go all the way, with Boro not far behind at 9/4.

Millwall can also be picked up at 9/4 with PricedUp, while Hull are way back at 6/1.

League One

It’s a slightly different picture in the third tier, where the two favourites to win the play-offs avoid each other in their respective semi-finals.

First up at 3pm on Saturday, Bolton Wanderers - who slipped from third to fifth on the final day of the regular season - take on surprise package Bradford, who only got promoted from League Two last season.

Wanderers are as short as 15/8 to reach the Championship, while second-favourites Stockport (2/1) face 6th-placed Stevenage over two legs.

Stevenage have played the underdog all season, so won’t mind an outsider price of 9/2 to be victorious at Wembley in a couple of weeks.

League Two

The League Two play-off action gets underway on Sunday and there’s absolutely nothing in it from a betting perspective.

Salford, Notts County and Chesterfield, who finished 4th, 5th and 6th respectively, are all hovering around the 23/10 mark for promotion to League One.

Action there gets underway on Sunday, with Salford facing 3/1 play-off outsiders Grimsby, before a clash of Nottinghamshire vs Derbyshire as County take on the Spireites.
