Nuno Espirito Santo Sacked After Back-to-Back EFL Defeats

West Ham United have parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo after a slow start to the season. After last weekend’s results, the Hammers have slipped to eighth.
West Ham are lining up a new boss before Wednesday’s trip to Cardiff City in the EFL Championship.
Nuno Gets the Boot
The pressure was on Nuno after the disappointing 3-2 home loss to promotion rivals Southampton. Last weekend’s 3-1 home reverse to West Bromwich Albion proved to be the final straw.
Before the back-to-back losses, United were in tremendous form in the second tier, winning six and drawing three of nine Championship games.
Despite slipping down the table, things are extremely tight at the summit, with just six points separating first from eighth. The Irons are still within touching distance of table toppers Middlesbrough.
Hammers Eyeing Up Parker?
Scott Parker has been heavily linked with the vacant job. The former West Ham midfielder has a sensational promotion record in the Championship, taking Fulham, Bournemouth, and Burnley up.
The board are reportedly in advanced talks with Parker, and he could sign on the dotted line before Wednesday’s game in the Welsh capital. Wales manager Craig Bellamy, among others, had also been mentioned.
Can United Return to Winning Ways?
West Ham take on Cardiff at the Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday. Although the Bluebirds are down in 17th, they are a good side under the popular Brian Barry-Murphy.
It promises to be an entertaining game, as Cardiff are unbeaten on home soil this term, while West Ham are the only Championship team left with an undefeated away record.
The Londoners will be desperate to bounce back after the recent defeats, and they won 1-0 in Wales in their last away match, defeating Cardiff’s rivals Swansea City.
That said, bringing in the right manager is more important, and Parker is certainly capable at this level.
