We’ve reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League and it brings a clash between sides from the English Premier League and the French Ligue 1. Paris Saint-Germain makes the trip to face Liverpool in the second leg of the two-leg series at Anfield in Liverpool Tuesday night. We have you covered with our best Paris Saint-Germain vs. Liverpool best bets.

Liverpool got back in the win column as they beat Fulham 2-0 in Premier League action at home Saturday. Paris Saint-Germain had their Ligue 1 matchup with Lens postponed over the weekend. They blanked Liverpool by a 2-0 count at home in the first leg last Wednesday. Let’s take a look and give you our top Liverpool vs. Paris Saint-Germain betting tips.

Paris Saint-Germain Seeking Semifinal Berth

Paris Saint-Germain completely dominated the first leg of the quarterfinal, cruising to a win that could have been far more one-sided than it was. They look to take care of business and close things out here as they are rested for the second leg. They are 20-4-3 in Ligue 1 play, giving them a four-point lead over Lens for the top spot. Paris Saint-Germain also has a match in hand.

In the first leg of the quarterfinals, Paris Saint-Germain completely stifled Liverpool to earn the win. Désiré Doué gave them a 1-0 advantage with his tally in the 11th minute. He nearly made it a 2-0 margin just before the half but was stopped by Giorgi Mamardashvili. That left the score 1-0 at the half. Paris Saint-Germain continued their attack in the second half with relentless pressure. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia doubled PSG’s advantage in the 65th minute as he found the back of the net. He became the first PSG player to score in four straight Champions League knockout matches.

PSG kept the pressure on but was unable to do further damage, leaving them up a pair of goals heading into this second leg. They owned a 6-0 advantage in shots on target and an 18-3 edge in shot attempts overall. Just as important, PSG had their Ligue 1 tilt with Lens postponed over the weekend. That gives them a rest advantage as well as an opportunity to further prepare for this match.

Liverpool Fighting to Stay Alive

Liverpool managed to blank Fulham Saturday at Anfield but stands just 3-4-1 in their last eight matches overall. The Reds have a rest disadvantage with having to play Saturday. That means Arne Slot was unable to rest his stars for this match. Against Fulham, Rio Ngumoha scored in the 36th minute to give Liverpool a 1-0 advantage in the match. Shortly after that, Mohamed Salah scored his sixth goal of the Premier League campaign to make it a 2-0 score. That goal came in the 40th minute of play.

Fulham made a charge in the second half but came up empty. One goal was negated by an offsides call and they misfired on several other opportunities. Giorgi Mamardashvili held them off and earned the clean sheet. With starting goalkeeper Alisson Becker (hamstring) out, the pressure is on Mamardashvili to hold PSG in check. That’s the only way that the Reds have a chance at making any kind of push here.

Paris Saint-Germain vs. Liverpool Prediction

One need look no further than the first match of this quarterfinal to realize the situation Liverpool finds itself in here. A deeper look shows that they were fortunate to get by Fulham. The Reds held just a 5-4 edge in shots on target while being beaten 19-18 on shot attempts. Paris Saint-Germain dominated the first leg with an 18-3 margin in shot attempts. The Reds didn’t have a shot on target the entire match. Liverpool has heavy legs with the short turnaround following Saturday’s contest. That doesn’t bode well here as they have to not only win but do so by at least two to have a shot to advance. I just don’t see it happening, even at Anfield. Take PSG here  as they wipe out another Premier League foe.

Our Prediction: Paris Saint-Germain 2.80
