We’ve reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League and it brings a clash between sides from the English Premier League and the Primeira Liga of Portugal. Arsenal makes the trip to face Sporting CP in the first leg of the two-leg series Tuesday at Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon Tuesday night. We have you covered with our best Arsenal vs. Sporting CP best bets.

Arsenal advanced to the quarterfinals after downing 16th-seeded Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in the second leg of their round of 16 matchup. That allowed them to prevail by a 3-1 aggregate score. Sporting CP moved into the quarterfinals by blitzing 23rd-seeded Bodø/Glimt 5-0 in the second leg of their round of 16 clash. They advanced on the strength of a 5-3 aggregate score.

All-time, the teams have faced off just once in Champions League play. Arsenal rolled to a 5-1 win on Match Day 5 in the 2024/25 Champions League. Let’s take a look and give you our top Arsenal vs. Sporting CP betting tips.

Arsenal Looking to Regain Form

Arsenal got past 16th-seeded Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16 but struggled outside the Champions League. They fell 2-0 to Manchester City in the English Carabao Cup and then stunned 2-1 by Southampton in the English FA Cup over the weekend. Arsenal looks to rebound to the form they showed during the league phase of the Champions League.

In the league phase, Arsenal obliterated opponents, rolling to a perfect 8-0-0 mark. They outscored the opposition by a 23-4 margin and earned the top seed. In the round of 16, Arsenal dispatched 16th-seeded Bayer Leverkusen to advance. They played to a 1-1 draw in the opening leg, setting the stage for the second leg. Eberechi Eze opened the scoring in the 36th minute to give Arsenal a 1-0 advantage at the half. Declan Rice doubled the margin in the 63rd minute and Arsenal wasn’t seriously threatened the rest of the way.

Perhaps the most important factor for Arsenal here is the man between the sticks. After Kepa Arrizabalaga sputtered in those two defeats, Arsenal should turn back to starting goalkeeper David Raya in this contest.

Sporting CP Try to Maintain Home Hot Streak

Sporting CP managed to survive their round of 16 matchup with 23rd-seeded Bodø/Glimt to advance to this matchup. Since that rally in the second leg, they have won a pair of matches in Primeira Liga action. Sporting CP dopped Alverca 4-1 as the visiting side March 22 and followed that up with a 4-2 home win over Santa Clara Friday. They are second in the Primiera Liga, five points behind FC Porto, though they have played one fewer match.

Sporting CP went 5-2-1 in the league phase and earned the seventh seed. That earned them a pass through the knockout phase of the playoffs and into the field of 16. In that round, Sporting CP faced 23rd-seeded Bodø/Glimt and immediately ran into trouble. They were beaten 3-0 in the first leg, leaving them in an unenviable position. In the second leg, Gonçalo Inacio opened the scoring in the 34th minute and they led 1-0 at the half. Pedro Gonçalves made it 2-0 in the 61st minute before Luis Suarez tallied in the 78th minute.

Sporting CP was up 3-0 at the end of regulation, sending the game to extra time. Maximiliano Araújo scored in the 92nd minute to give Sporting CP a 4-3 aggregate lead before Rafael Nel sealed it. That gave Sporting CP a 5-0 win in the second leg and a 5-3 aggregate victory. The victory sent Sporting CP to the quarterfinals for the first time since 1982-83.

Arsenal vs. Sporting CP Prediction

Arsenal stumbled in their losses to Manchester City and Southampton, though they were admittedly missing some key pieces. While Eberechi Eze, Piero Hincapie, Jurrien Timber and Bukayo Saka all may be missing for this matchup, Declan Rice, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Magalhaes all were seen practicing Monday. That gives manager Mikel Arteta a dose of good news after their recent struggles. Sporting CP hasn’t fallen at home since August 2025 but they aren’t used to matches of this magnitude either. Arsenal is intent of setting the tone for this matchup. Look for them to get back on track and take the opening leg.
