Bosnia vs Italy Betting Tips, Odds & Predictions – World Cup 2026 Playoffs

The pressure is on for Italy, which has been waiting 12 years to see its national team in the World Cup and 20 to see the Azzurri progress past the group stage. But to get there, they have to survive this Bosnia vs. Italy fixture, which means they have to contain a Bosnia side that’s at home and doesn’t know when to quit.

Bosnia was four minutes from ending their World Cup campaign in Cardiff, until Edin Dzeko found the equaliser to force the match to extra time. The Bosnians advanced 4-2 on penalties over Wales, earning the right to host Italy for one of the final World Cup places.

Italy is almost certain to find the net. Bosnia’s defense has been pedestrian at best, keeping just two clean sheets in 10 matches. Both of those came against San Marino, which emphasises that even a decent attack is usually enough to get through Bosnia’s defense.

But can Italy keep Bosnia off the scoresheet? It’s been 13 matches since Bosnia failed to score, albeit against lesser sides than Italy. The Italian defense is likely key to booking their place at the World Cup.

Bosnia vs. Italy Prediction

Best Bet: Under 2.5 Goals (5/6)

A snowstorm in Bosnia has slightly changed the makeup of this match. Both sides will be aware that one mistake could be costly, and with traction never a sure thing in Bosnia anyway, both teams will likely play a cautious style.

That, plus the presence of Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal, means goals should be at a premium here. Italy have had their problems slowing attacks on the road, but that statement comes with some qualifiers. In their win over Israel, Italy had two own goals bounce into the net. Against Estonia, Italy only conceded after building a 3-0 lead.

These aren’t likely to repeat themselves here. A low-scoring match makes the most sense.

Bosnia vs. Italy Same Game Parlay

Italy knows what it’s up against. Bosnia has been built around Dzeko, its best player in its short history. But this might be the wrong matchup for the hosts, because Italy knows Dzeko better than just about any international side. Dzeko has spent eight of his past 10 years in Serie A, giving the Azzurri excellent familiarity with his strengths and weaknesses.

Italy knows how to hold another side at bay, as it did in the win over Northern Ireland. This Bosnian side is a bit better and at home, so it’s likely to take the Italians longer to break down the defense.

But with Italy facing the pressure of this generation’s last chance to even play in a World Cup, it’s likely to get the job done. A low-scoring Italian win looks like the choice.
