At the time of writing, BetFred’s sportsbook covers more than 20 markets in total - including football, FIFA World Cup, rugby, basketball, cricket, tennis, horse racing and plenty of other UK favourites, as well as popular across the pond leagues and events like NFL, NBA and UFC.
Mind you, we found that the likes of Premier League and FA Cup football games do tend to get marginally more competitive odds here than, say, AFL or NHL games for some reason.
Darts odds are available here, too. While other smaller markets like Gaelic hurling, volleyball and snooker are also well represented on the site - some of which support live betting and streaming during big tournament seasons.
What’s more, any esports nuts among you will be happy to hear that League of Legends (LoL), Counter-Strike and Dota 2 are on the books here to boot. As are virtual racing events and a few other virtual sports.

As we said above, if you like a flutter on Premier League, La Liga, UEFA Women’s games and the like, BetFred’s a solid option - with excellent odds on all these relative to BetFred’s other sports betting markets, and tons of football centric promotions for the taking, too.

BetFred’s promotions page really goes all out - although we did find that “ACCA Flex” bonuses of 5-15%, “Best Odds Guaranteed" promos and other flagship offers are often restricted to football and/or racing markets only.

BetFred’s more casino-centric VIP program, which allows slots and table game players to collect “Comp Points” for every £10 played, doesn’t appear to be available to users of BetFred’s sportsbook at the time of writing, unfortunately.
But there are a tonne of other generous offers available here with a more sports specific lean, ranging from seasonal Premier League and FA Cup promos, to racing themed bonuses and odds multiplier offers.

Licensing and rep - is BetFred all above board in the UK?
Since it first hit the high street in 1967, BetFred has been a household name in British sports betting. So, much as you’d expect, BetFred’s online sportsbook is legal in the UK, too - it holds a UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) licence under the number 39544. While the site is also licensed in other jurisdictions, such as Gibraltar.
Over the years, the brand has struck up several prominent sponsorship deals with major UK sports names like Manchester United FC and Royal Ascot, while it’s also built up a reasonable 3.3-star TrustPilot rating across more than 14,000 individual reviews. Although we’d say this average is a little on the harsh side - as we think this site has just about everything any sports bettor needs.
The BetFred brand is closely affiliated with organisations such as GamStop and GambleAware, too. While we found it also offers a bunch of easy to use self limitation and “Time Out” tools on its “Safer Gambling page” if ever you need them. So, you can rest assured this is an operator that takes all the important stuff super seriously.
What’s more, BetFred’s site and apps are properly SSL encrypted, two factor authentication (2FA) options are available on sign up, and there are several trusted BetFred deposit methods and withdrawal options on the table here, too. Let’s take a closer look at those in the next section.
BetFred withdrawal times, payment options and more
BetFred’s deposit methods and withdrawal options are just as broad as you’d expect from a big name betting brand like this one - with VISA, MasterCard, Apple Pay and bank transfer all supported, and instant deposits offered across the board, subject to a £5 minimum deposit requirement.
Our BetFred review found that withdrawals are faster than the average here, too - you can cash out within just four hours via VISA and MasterCard. This is then upped to six hours for Apple Pay and standard bank transfers. Although BACS transfers may sometimes take a few business days to be approved, we'd suggest avoiding those wherever possible.
BetFred’s payments page offers a nifty “Transaction History” tab you can use to track any pending payments, while customer support is only ever one click away from said page if ever you need to flag up any issues.
Customer support options at BetFred - what our review found
Customer support is yet another area where our BetFred sports betting review was left feeling pretty impressed. You can access the “Help” tab at any time from the brand’s main menu, which’ll open a pop-up window containing browsable FAQs covering anything from “Account Verification” and “Withdrawals” to “Bet Settlement” and other, more sports specific issues.
Said window is a little on the small side if you’re using the web version of BetFred, but it contains more than everything you need, and its articles are all logically categorised into clear sections, too.
If the FAQs can’t help you with your query, your next port of call is “FredBot” - a fast acting chatbot that we found is more than happy to connect you with an actual human being if you ask it to.
Frustratingly, there was no email address or alternative contact option listed for UK bettors at the time of writing. However, we found that live chat is staffed 24/7. While the human agents we reached out to as part of our tests generally replied to us within five to ten minutes of us writing in, too.
Finding your way around BetFred’s sportsbook
Much like other football, tennis and cricket betting sites we’ve seen, BetFred’s markets are sensibly laid out on its site. While the website itself is dead easy to browse, too, thanks to its single click sports links, separate “In Play” page and lack of any annoying popups.
Rather than hitting you with rotating carousels and banners, BetFred hosts its sports promos away from all the main action, on its separate “Offers” and “Coupons” tabs - and we liked this too. While the main sports dash features a main menu on the left, your bet slips on the right, and nothing but pure odds in between, which really helps with focus.
We love all the bare bones simplicity here. Although we have to admit, the blue and white color scheme is a little bright for our liking - adding a dark mode option would make for a real easy improvement, as would allowing bettors to collapse or minimise the main menu when not in use, too.
Our thoughts on BetFred’s betting app
BetFred’s betting app is just as cleanly designed, but arguably a lot more user-friendly, as the main menu can be brushed away when not in use, and the odds thumbnails are a tad larger, and therefore easier to read.
As it stands, BetFred’s app has a 4.6 star rating on Apple’s App Store and a 4.3 star average on Google Play, although we didn’t encounter any real usability inconsistencies between the two - both are beautifully put together, and offer fast refresh rates when scrolling or flicking between tabs.
Much as we found in our Highbet Casino review, BetFred uses one app for both its sportsbook and casino services rather than separating the two. Although from where we’re standing, BetFred’s app is much easier to use - hence its sky high ratings at the time of writing, we guess.
Our BetFred review conclusion - a top tier online sportsbook
BetFred is a big name in UK betting for a reason - their site covers practically every sport under the sun, it’s updated frequently with new and exciting bonuses, and usability is top tier in an industry when far too many competitors tend to overcomplicate their sportsbook dashboards.
Sure, our BetFred review found that the brand’s iOS and Android apps are a little easier to use than BetFred’s standard site, while some of the site’s bonuses can be a bit restrictive in terms of markets, often being usable strictly on football or horse racing only.
