Why did you decide to become a sports legal journalist?
The gambling industry never stands still, and I love that! It’s like a never-ending puzzle, with legal and regulatory changes constantly shaping it. I think if you understand something well, you should be able to explain it simply — and that’s one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
How do you research and verify the information in your articles?
I always start with the primary source. Then, I’ll see what other writers have to say about it and form my own opinions. Being able to cross-reference facts from court documents, government websites, or directly from the operator ensures my readers always get accurate information.
What is most important for you when writing legal content?
Accuracy always comes first, but clarity is a very close second. Legal stories can quickly become full of jargon, so my goal is always to explain what has happened and what it means for bettors in plain English.
How do you stay up to date with topics you cover?
My bookmarks bar is packed with industry bodies and government departments. I’m also subscribed to more industry insider newsletters than I’d like to admit. Following the industry every day means I can spot important developments early.
