The biggest bout of the night is the UFC Flyweight Championship clash between Van and Pantoja. Their first battle in December 2025 ended prematurely, and fans cannot wait for this one.
Pantoja has unfinished business against Van. He suffered a first-round injury in the first fight last December, losing by TKO. After picking up the arm issue after just 26 seconds, Pantoja had no time to showcase his high-pressure style against Van’s boxing technique.
Can Van Retain?
The champion will be a tough nut to crack, as the 24-year-old has already won 17 of 19 professional fights in his fledgling career. Since being knocked out by Charles Johnson in Colorado in July 2024, the Burmese-American fighter has won seven in a row.
Pantoja is far more experienced at 36, but the Brazilian is reaching the latter stages of his career and has not been in a pro bout since losing to Van in Las Vegas last December.

Still, before the UFC 323 defeat, Pantoja was on an eight-fight winning streak, seeing off the likes of Manel Kape, Brandon Royval, and Steve Erceg by unanimous decision.

Many will see the Van-Pantoja fight as UFC 331’s outright main event, but the mouth-watering battle between Arman Tsarukyan and Mauricio Ruffy could steal the show in California.

Ruffy has suffered just one professional defeat in the last six years. He was beaten by Benoit Saint Denis in Paris a year ago but has since bounced back with TKO victories over Rafael Fiziev and Michael Chandler.
