UFC Fight Night 285 takes place in California this Saturday, with the Middleweight bout between Anthony Hernandez and Gregory Rodrigues topping the bill.

It promises to be a thrilling night of UFC action at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, with several mouth-watering fights to look forward to. This will be the promotion’s seventh visit to California’s capital city and the first since 2019.

Hernandez vs. Rodrigues Preview

The Middleweight clash between Hernandez and Rodrigues is set to headline the event in California. Both fighters are former LFA Middleweight champions, and it will undoubtedly be a sensational UFC spectacle between two outstanding operators.

Hernandez suffered his first defeat since 2020 earlier in the year, losing by TKO to Sean Strickland in Texas. The Californian was on an eight-fight winning streak before the loss.

Rodrigues heads to the Golden State on a three-bout winning run. Since losing to Jared Cannonier in February 2025, the Brazilian has secured successive victories over Jack Hermansson, Roman Kopylov, and Brunno Ferreira.

Hernandez Looking to Dominate

With only two years separating the pair, age will not be a factor in this fight, but Hernandez is likely to have the better gas tank. His pace and determination are hard to match, and Rodriguez might struggle to contain the 32-year-old American grappler.

Hernandez will still be feeling February’s loss to Strickland. He was in sensational form beforehand, and the defeat in Houston was a bitter pill to swallow for “Fluffy”. He will be desperate to bounce back at the first time of asking.

Rodrigues Relishing the Underdog Tag

Going by the latest BetMGM odds for this fascinating fight, Hernandez is the clear favorite at just -200. He will be looking to put on a show in home territory.

Rodrigues is the underdog at +165, but “Robocop” will be no pushover in the Golden 1 Center. This bout could go either way.

That said, if we had to pick a winner, it would be Hernandez. His high intensity and relentless pressure could be too much for the 34-year-old Brazilian to handle. Hernandez to win on points at +450 stands out.

Our Prediction: Anthony Hernandez to Win on Points - +450, BetMGM

Spivac and Petrino Go Head-to-Head

The Hernandez-Rodrigues fight is not the only enthralling bout taking place in California this weekend. We have a packed UFC card to get stuck into, including the Heavyweight battle between Serghei Spivac and Vitor Petrino.

Spivac has been in patchy form, losing two and winning two of his last four fights. However, after back-to-back defeats to Jailton Almeida and Waldo Cortes-Acosta, the Moldovan bounced back with a decision victory over Ante Delija in February.

Petrino has won three in a row since losses to Dustin Jacoby and Anthony Smith. He was most recently in action in March, defeating Steven Asplund in Las Vegas. The Brazilian has an excellent professional record, winning 14 of 16.

Spivac is the underdog at +115, while you can get -140 for Petrino to prevail. This might be closer than most people are anticipating, but our money is going on Petrino. The 28-year-old knows how to get the job done and is always exciting to watch.

Our Prediction: Vitor Petrino Win – -140, BetMGM

Packed Card in California

Furthermore, Reinier de Ridder and Roman Dolidze square off in a Light Heavyweight clash, Carli Judice and Jeisla Chaves lock horns in the Women’s Flyweight division, and Anthony Wint faces Terrance Chatman in a Heavyweight matchup.

The Main Card is packed with exciting fights, while the Preliminary Card is also stacked with intriguing bouts. All eyes will be on Hernandez vs Rodrigues, but UFC Fight Night 285 at Golden 1 Center has a lot to offer.
