A refreshing, brand-new venue for the PGA Tour, Philadelphia Cricket Club is next on tap to host the Truist Championship. As the sixth signature event of the season, virtually all of the PGA Tour’s best will be in Philadelphia with their eyes set on the $20 million purse, with the second major of the year only one week away. These limited field events have not been the kindest to longshot bets, but this course should lend itself to more volatility. Let’s get to our Truist Championship longshots and sleepers for your golf DFS lineups and betting cards.

FINDING VALUE IN GOLF DFS PICKS: Truist Championship

To identify “value” for any given week on the PGA Tour, I find it’s best to understand the consensus key stat profile first. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the Truist Championship, recent form, SG: T2G, and SG: Approach are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price.

From a sleeper perspective, I will emphasize the importance of SG: OTT and comp course history at similar Northeast, classical venues. It remains to be seen how the Philadelphia Cricket Club will stand up against PGA Tour competition, but I believe a steady dosage of fairways in regulation and reliable short game around Northeast Bentgrass greens will be the keys to success this week.

Below, find my favorite golf DFS picks and longshots for the 2025 Truist Championship. Stats reflect the last 36 rounds unless otherwise noted. Each player is listed with the best price in Truist Championship odds.

Justin Rose:

The renaissance year carries on for the former World No. 1, as he continues to get closer and closer to locking up a spot for himself on the European roster at Bethpage this Fall. Rose has done all but win this season, picking up three top-10 finishes over his last seven starts. Each of those top-10 finishes has come in signature events, so there’s no question Rose is capable of rising to the occasion when the purse increases.

Of all the “longshots” on the board this week, Rose is the only one to crack the top 10 in my model. That’s a credit to his top-15 ranks in this field in Recent Form (SG: TOT L36), Weighted Putting (SG: P – Bent, SG: P – Firm & Fast Greens), and SG: Ball-Striking. While the field at large will be seeing the Philadelphia Cricket Club for the first time, a veteran like Rose should be able to draw from his experience on similar classical venues to gain an edge this week.

Will Zalatoris:

Zalatoris remains one of the premier ball strikers on the PGA Tour, even as he continues to nurse himself back to full health. While the short game has taken the longest to fully recover, I’ve seen enough signs in Zalatoris’ ball striking to suggest we are nearing the same level of play that has produced three runner-up finishes in majors thus far in his career. Most encouragingly, Zalatoris has leaned on long-iron approach play as the strength of his game of late, ranking No. 2 in Prox: 200+.

Philadelphia Cricket Club is unlikely to pose the same challenge as a typical Major venue would, given its lack of overall distance and setup without the intention of pushing these players to their limits. It does, however, resemble some of the more recent restoration projects we’ve seen over the last few years.

The Country Club, host of the 2022 U.S. Open, is my favorite course compared to Philadelphia Cricket Club, given its classical style, lack of significant length, emphasis on scrambling on and around Bentgrass greens, and importance of long-iron approach play. Zalatoris was about one rotation away from meeting Matt Fitzpatrick in a playoff at Brookline, and with the ball-striking returning to form, I would not be surprised to see a similar result this week.

Gary Woodland:

Speaking of encouraging results at Brookline, Gary Woodland posted his best Major finish since winning at Pebble Beach in the 2022 U.S. Open, where he finished T10. Woodland has had his own renaissance of a 2025 season, picking up six top-20 finishes over his last 14 starts. That includes a season-best runner-up finish three starts ago at the Texas Children’s Houston Open.

From a ball-striking standpoint, Woodland stacks up well to take on Philadelphia Cricket Club, ranking in the top 20 in both SG: OTT and Prox: 150+. Woodland has proven capable of gaining strokes in both Driving Distance and Driving Accuracy, which should help him start from second base at the Philadelphia Cricket Club if that form continues into this week.

I’ve stopped short of betting Woodland outright, but he will be featured heavily on my prop betting card and fantasy lineups at the 2025 Truist Championship.

Cameron Young:

I understand what the definition of insanity is, and my expectations for Cameron Young are tempered this week, but I’m willing to take the bait at this steep of a price discount in a limited 72-man field. These Northeast, Bentgrass venues are the native New Yorker’s strong suit, as Young came up through his Met Amateur days in similar conditions.

It’s been a disappointing season for Young, but not a hopeless one, as he flashed his potential just three starts ago with a T18 finish at the Valero Texas Open. The issue with Young this year has not been his ability, but rather a lack of consistency to piece four good rounds together without getting derailed by some crooked numbers. Philadelphia Cricket Club is forgiving enough off the tee that Young should have some space to attempt a bomb-and-gouge approach.

There’s no question he has the length to separate on this course, so his ability to mix will ultimately come down to whether he can channel the same short game chops that have led to five Major top-10 finishes in the last three years

Best of luck if you bet or play these golf DFS picks for the Truist Championship!
