When will Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence return to the field?
Many fantasy football owners are searching for an injury update for Jacksonville’s quarterback. When may Lawrence return to the field for the Saints?
Lawrence has missed consecutive matchups with a shoulder injury, most recently against the Lions in Week 11. Jacksonville suffered a 46-point defeat with Mac Jones under center. Detroit kicked off the game as a -14 spread favorite, the largest of the 2024 campaign. It was also the most lopsided loss in the Jaguars’ history.
Moreover, the offense has manufactured the fewest yards over a three-game stretch in franchise history. Jacksonville tallied a combined 528 yards in losses to Philadelphia (215), Minnesota (143), and Detroit (170).
Granted, Lawrence wasn’t performing well before spraining the AC joint in his left (non-throwing) shoulder versus the Eagles in Week 9. Among qualified QBs, he ranks 20th in adjusted EPA per dropback.
Jacksonville has gone 2-9 straight up, with Lawrence starting in nine contests. Still, he’s helped bettors cash their spread bets, going 6-5 ATS (54.6%). Unfortunately for Doug Pederson, the Jaguars’ head coach, the latter category won’t help him retain his job.
Below is the Jaguars’ schedule following their Week 12 bye.
- Sunday, Dec. 1 (Week 13): Texans
- Sunday, Dec. 8 (Week 14): at Titans
- Sunday, Dec. 15 (Week 15): Jets
- Sunday, Dec. 22 (Week 16): at Raiders
- Sunday, Dec. 29 (Week 17): Titans
- Sunday, Jan. 5 (Week 18): at Colts
How long will Trevor Lawrence remain out?
Our best guess is that Lawrence will return in Week 13 against the Texans. As of this publishing, Jacksonville is a 6.5-point home underdog on the look-ahead line at FanDuel Sportsbook. If Houston demolishes Tennessee on Sunday, this spread will likely rise above the key number of a touchdown, whether or not Lawrence suits up.
Sitting in the cellar of the AFC South, Jacksonville could opt to keep Lawrence sidelined for the remainder of the season.
If he does return, bettors should consider backing the Jaguars at the bottom of their market value, possibly as soon as Week 13.
