Why I’m Betting Tony Finau Odds To Win BMW Championship In FedEx Cup Playoffs
BMW Championship odds are available at golf betting sites, with the tournament beginning Thursday in Castle Pines, Colorado. While Tony Finau may not be as much of a prolific winner as the others who surround him in this loaded FedEx Cup playoffs field, he remains one of the most consistent approach players on TOUR this season with proven prior success on other courses at altitude, making him a dangerous contender at appealing odds for the BMW Championship. Here are all the reasons why I’m spotlighting him this week to contend at Castle Pines Golf Club.
I’ve already locked him onto my BMW Championship outright betting card (available in TheLines.com’s free Discord).

Editor’s Note
WHY I like tony finau to WIN THE bmw CHAMPIONSHIP
Tony Finau took the road less traveled to the PGA TOUR, by way of Salt Lake City, Utah. That may not exactly have set him up for success on the usual parkland golf setups on TOUR week-to-week, however has familiarity playing mountain golf at altitude could be his ace in the hole at Castle Pines. Currently, Finau resides in Scottsdale, Arizona, playing out of Silver Leaf Country Club, about 2,100 feet above sea level, so he’s still fairly adjusted to re-calculating travel distance in thinner air.
We have not seen many courses that compare one-to-one with Castle Pines with its unique agronomy carved into a massive plot of land in the mountains. On the courses with components that do translate to what is required for scoring this week, however, Finau has excelled. Across Augusta National and Muirfield Village, Finau has been remarkably consistent with eight career top-15 finishes. In his latest appearance at the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club – another top Jack Nicklaus comp course – Finau led the field in terms of SG: APP en route to a solid T18 finish.
The signature win of Finau’s successful career came in the FedEx Cup Playoffs when he chased down Jon Rahm and Cam Smith at Liberty National to win the 2021 NORTHERN TRUST. As much as Finau has developed a reputation for not winning as often as he should, he has proven that the lights on the FedEx Cup Playoff stage are not too bright for him.
Recent Form
Finau’s greatest asset at the moment is his approach play, ranking No. 3 in the field in SG: APP behind Scheffler and Schauffele. With its constant elevation changes and precise landing areas needed to navigate the greens at Castle Pines, I expect elite approach players to separate at this venue. Finau is more than an approach specialist, however, as he also ranks top-10 in SG: T2G leading into this week. With seven top-20 finishes over his last eight starts, Tony Finau has quietly put together one of the most consistent seasons on the PGA TOUR this year.
Statistically, Finau ranks top 10 in this field in:
- Recent Form
- SG: T2G
- Driving Distance
- SG: APP
- Comp Course History
Finau ranks No. 8 overall in my model this week. All of these reasons are why I love Tony Finau’s chances to win the BMW Championship this week.
