Tommy Fleetwood Odds: Why England’s Lad Fits For Olympic Golf Gold Medal

The men’s golf tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics begins Thursday in Paris. While Tommy Fleetwood odds have never cashed in the United States, he’s won plenty globally, including at Le Golf National. Here are all the reasons why I’m spotlighting him this week to make a run at the gold medal. I’m highly considering adding his Olympic golf odds to my betting card this week.

Why Tommy Fleetwood Could Win Golf’s Olympic Gold Medal
The parallels between 2024 Tommy Fleetwood and 2020 Gold Medalist Xander Schauffele are becoming too clear to ignore. Heading into the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Xander Schauffele was already known as one of the best golfers in the world who lacked a big, career-defining victory on his resume despite leaning on his elite all-around skillsets to play into contention week in, week out. After leaving the United States to compete in the Olympics closer to his family’s home in Japan, Xander managed to pick up the biggest win of his career at the time, setting the stage for floodgates to open later on in his career.
In Tommy Fleetwood’s case, he is without question the best player in the world still lacking a PGA TOUR win on the resume. And while a gold medal won’t change that, it would surely go a long way in reversing his reputation as a lovable loser. And while Fleetwood’s success on the PGA TOUR may be lacking, he’s had no trouble hoisting trophies in Europe with six career DP World Tour wins under his belt.
That success in Europe has translated directly to this very venue as well, as Fleetwood picked up his second career professional victory at Le Golf National at the 2017 HNA Open de France. He followed that up the following year with an impressive 4-1-0 showing at the 2018 Ryder Cup at this venue as well, helping lead Team Europe to a decisive victory. In recent stints in Europe over the past year, Fleetwood has continued to play his best, posting a 3-1-0 record at the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone and winning the Dubai Invitational this past January.
Like Schauffele back in 2020, Fleetwood’s game is trending in all areas leading into this week, with seven top-20 finishes over his last 10 starts. France may not exactly be a “home game” for the man representing Great Britain, but we should expect plenty of local Europeans to rally by his side if he’s in contention come Sunday.
Statistically, Fleetwood ranks top 10 in this field in:
- Comp course history
- Driving accuracy
- Strokes Gained: Approach
Fleetwood ranks sixth overall in my model this week. All of these reasons are why I’m highly considering Tommy Fleetwood odds on my betting card this week.
