The Match V Rules: Brooks Koepka Vs. Bryson DeChambeau Format

Written By FairwayJay on October 6, 2021 - Last Updated on November 26, 2021

The next match-play golf event is set. It’s Bryson DeChambeau against Brooks Koepka, and The Match V rules will shorten the made-for-TV spectacle from previous installments.

This latest featured series is fueled by a rivalry that started in 2019 when Koepka called out DeChambeau’s pace of play. The feud reignited this summer when a viral video sparked a Twitter spat between the two golf stars. The media attention and story will carry on to the made-for-TV event the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, Nov. 26 in Las Vegas at 4:00p ET.

“So does this mean we’re having ‘Friendsgiving,'” Koepka tweeted.

The fifth installment of The Match will take place along the Las Vegas Strip at The Wynn Golf Club adjacent to the Wynn Resort.

This will not be the typical 18-hole round of golf. According to The Match V rules, Koepka vs. DeChambeau will only be a maximum of 12 holes. Like the Ryder Cup, it will be match play style, with each hole either being won by Koepka or DeChambeau or halved. Whoever wins the most holes will win.

Both players will be mic’d up. Tensions and tee-shots will be worth watching and listening to as Turner broadcasters Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson make the calls. Phil Michelson is expected to be involved in some capacity and covering the event as well. If it’s anything like past broadcasts of The Match, expect some surprise guests too.
