Super Wild Card Weekend kicks off Saturday when the Cleveland Browns (11-6) visit the Houston Texans (10-7). Two prolific passing attacks in an indoor stadium set up a pretty enticing board of player props. Last time around, Amari Cooper set franchise records with 11 catches, 265 yards, and two touchdowns. Could Cooper be in for another monster day? Let’s take a look at NFL Wild Card player props offered between the Browns and Texans.

Texans vs. Browns Player Props: Sportsbook Odds

Amari Cooper Over Receptions

Is another 11-265-2 day in store for Cooper? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean Joe Flacco won’t look his way again. Cooper missed the last two games of the season with an injury and should return for this game. Flacco is very experienced on the road in the postseason – even being the winningest active road playoff QB – he knows what it takes to notch victories.

Nobody attempted more passes between Weeks 14-17 than Flacco (excluding Week 18, when many teams sat starters). Despite missing one of those games, Cooper racked up 36 targets in that span, too. With CJ Stroud back in the lineup, the Browns likely don’t build up a 36-7 lead and pull the starters like they did in Week 16. To keep pace and win the game, Flacco has to get his stars involved.

However, we have to monitor the injury report here, as Cooper was a back-to-back DNP on Tuesday and Wednesday. Check his status before betting Browns player props.

Joe Flacco Over Passing Yards

In his last four starts, Flacco surpassed 300 passing yards. Those games included two blowouts (Jets, Texans) where most of his work came in the first halves of those games. The Texans are potentially without a significant portion of their defensive line. Will Anderson is one of four defensive linemen not yet to practice as of Thursday. Without that push up front, Flacco has plenty of time to throw and pick apart the Houston secondary.

The Texans are 20th in pass EPA allowed and that showed in their first meeting with the Browns. The difference between that and Week 16 is that Cleveland likely throws more since Stroud is back, and Houston should be able to move the ball better. This prop goes hand-in-hand with the previous. This week, I’m attacking a high-volume passing attack for the Browns.

CJ Stroud Under Passing Attempts

As Stroud’s receiving options dropped due to injury, so too did his passing attempts. He hasn’t thrown 34 or more passes since Week 12 against the Jaguars. Although Cleveland’s defense seems impenetrable, they do allow production on the ground. In their last three games, the Browns allowed 5.4 yards per carry, second-worst in the NFL. So long as Houston doesn’t get blown out in the first half, I expect a more run-centered approach.

The name of Stroud’s game is ultra-efficiency. He completed 20-of-26 and 24-of-32 passes in his last two outings and hasn’t thrown a pick since Week 11. Stroud picks and chooses his spot, rarely ever forcing the ball. A heady and balanced offensive game plan puts the Texans in the best position to contend this game, and that may call for fewer passes overall.
