New Jersey Sports Betting: Which NJ Sportsbook App Is Best For You?

Bill Gelman February 19, 2019
NJ Sportsbook Apps

New Jersey legalized sports betting is expanding at a rapid pace. The sportsbooks available in the Garden State include seven Atlantic City casinos, two racetracks, and eight mobile online products available. And there are more to come.

In this article, we’re going to focus on the mobile apps available in New Jersey. Each of the sites have their strong points, and it really comes down to personal preference and searching for the best odds.

Here is a closer look at the eight options.

DraftKings Sportsbook

Land-based partner: Resorts Atlantic City
Available via: iOS, Android and web browser
Super Bowl Promo: Free $25 (no deposit) and bet match up to $500 (no promo code needed)

DraftKings, one of two DFS heavyweights to cross over to the sports betting world, surprised many by jumping to the front of the New Jersey mobile sports betting line on Aug. 16 — a full 16 days before MGM went live.

Deposit options are limited compared to others on this list, but PayPal was added as an important option for bettors. The $5 minimum deposit is light on the wallet, but $500 will earn you the full promo amount. Withdrawals are processed via checks and the Resorts casino cage.

Although the apps are separate, users of the DFS and sports betting sites enjoy the benefit of the sites being linked, including a shared wallet.

You can pretty much place a bet on any sport, cricket and darts included. DraftKings offers a complete menu of betting options, including in-play and cash out options.

The betting carousel is extremely user-friendly. And the geolocation technology is top-notch. If you’re not located in NJ, users will not be able to see the lobby. The app automatically logs users out after a short period of inactivity. Wagers can only be placed online as DraftKings does not have a retail operation.

For more information visit our DraftKings Sportsbook review page.

FanDuel Sportsbook

Land-based partner: Meadowlands Racetrack
Available via: iOS, Android and web browser
Super Bowl Promo: Risk-free bet up to $500 (with deposit)

FanDuel, another big-time player in the DFS world, merged with Paddy Power Betfair’s U.S. operations, resulting in the “largest online sports destination in the United States.” Name recognition is key, and so is having a strong sportsbook app.

There are several deposit and withdrawal options at FanDuel Sportsbook, making it easy to get in the action. The promo bonus is enough to attract attention, but several others are offering higher amounts.

Bettors can wager on all of the popular sports, and those not quite as popular. The full menu of betting options includes everything from moneyline to round robins, and of course the previously talked about in-play betting.

The live scoreboard feature allows users to track wagers and updated odds, with easy links to in-game bets. Sports betting rookies can take advantage of the informative FanDuel training camp.

For more information visit our FanDuel Sportsbook review page.

BetStars Sportsbook

Land-based partner: Resorts
Available via: iOS, Android; web browser in the works
Promo: New players earn up to $500 in free bets

The sports betting product is the newest under the Stars Group umbrella, joining the already established PokerStars NJ and PokerStars Casino.

The eight deposit methods ($10 minimum) include VISA, MasterCard, PayNearMe, eCheck, and casino cage, offering plenty of customer convenience. There are five withdrawal options.

Wagers are accepted on all the popular sports — football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer — and less popular sports such as tennis and cycling. Besides the popular wager options, there are in-game betting and cash out options. Odds boosts are available daily.

Users of the multiple Stars Group platforms have access to a shared wallet available to use in poker/casino and sports betting apps.

The iOS PokerStars NJ app highlights popular games with betting options and other sports posted above. The downside is bets cannot currently be placed via the web browser.

Caesars Sportsbook

Land-based partner: Caesars Atlantic City
Available via: Android, iOS and web browser
Super Bowl Promo: Upt to $300 in free bets on first deposit (Use promo code BETFREE10)

One thing missing from the Caesars Atlantic City property is a retail sportsbook. But sister properties Harrah’s and the connected Bally’s do have one. The flagship property took a different route by rolling out its mobile/online product first, and it’s combined with the previously existing casino app.

Besides the eight deposit methods, the lobby features a full menu of sports wagers grouped by sport, MLB, NBA and NCAA football games take center stage, but it’s easy to filter personal preferences.

Bettors will find money lines, point spreads, parlays, futures, teasers, and props, but in-game and cash out features are not included at this time.

Total Rewards members will enjoy the added perk of earning tier credits.

SugarHouse Sportsbook and Casino

Land-based partner: Golden Nugget Atlantic City
Available via: Android, iOS and web browser
Promo: First deposit match up to $250 (Use promo code PLAY250)

The brick-and-mortar SugarHouse calls Philadelphia home, but the digital version is holding its own in New Jersey thanks to its strong affiliation with the Golden Nugget — the state’s Internet/mobile gaming leader. As an added bonus the sportsbook is built into the previously existing casino app (featuring more than 450 table games and slots) for an all-in-one package with a shared wallet.

Users will enjoy the 10 deposit options — four of which can be used for withdrawals. All of the popular American sports are on the board with a variety of betting options available — jackpot parlay included. Everything is easily accessible via the very busy looking lobby, which may be distracting to some as a result of the rotating promo ads and news feed.

Operator Rush Street Interactive has played up the strength of its live betting options for football games with more than 300 offers available the first week of the NFL season. Cash Out option is available, too.

For more information, visit our SugarHouse how-to guide.

Land-based partner: Caesars Atlantic City
Available via: Android and web browser (iOS coming soon)
Promo: $10 Free Bonus (no deposit needed); First deposit match up to $500

888 Holdings continues to go all in with its New Jersey mobile/online offerings as 888sport joins 888poker and 888 Casino. 888 bills its sports betting platform as “among the finest in the world.” It was the seventh sports betting platform to go live in NJ. Users have access to a shared wallet between sports betting, poker, and casino.

Customers can choose between eight deposit options along with five withdrawal methods. The welcome promo is currently among the best being offered.

There is a full menu of popular pro and international sports all types of wagers available, in-game betting included. Everything is easily accessible from the lobby that includes a running scoreboard of current games.

iOS users will need to wait a tad longer as the web browser still has the “coming soon message.”

William Hill

Land-based partners: Monmouth Park and Ocean Casino Resort
Available via: Android, iOS and web browser
Promo: $50 cash after reaching $50 in total bets

William Hill is investing heavily in New Jersey with retail operations at Monmouth Park (where New Jersey’s first legal sports bet was accepted) and Ocean Casino Resort, with another one in the works at the Tropicana.

William Hill’s hard push in NJ comes as no surprise being that they bill themselves as “America’s sports betting leader.” Besides operating 100-plus sportsbooks in Nevada, the company rolled out the New Jersey version of its Android and web browser platforms in time for the NFL season. The iOS app was launched in late September 2018.

The deposit and withdrawal methods are a bit limited compared to some competitors, but William Hill has been doing this for a long time, so the system is working. All of the major sports are on the board with a full variety of betting options, live betting included. Everything is easily accessible from the lobby.

The welcome promo is not as attractive as others — $50 in free money compared to much larger deposit matches at 888sport, BetStars and DraftKings.

Web browser users may experience some confusion if connected to the informational williamhill.us/new-jersey website, which includes links to the Nevada version of the app. Customer service representatives are in hand to help resolve the issue. Instead of searching Google Play, Android users will have an easier time downloading the app via nj.us.williamhill.com/betting/en-us.

playMGM Sportsbook

Land-based partner: Borgata
Available via: Android devices
Promo: None at this time

The Borgata is the top-performing casino in Atlantic City and is regularly ahead of the pack with its offerings. The MGM-owned property was ready to go with its retail operation the first day sports bets were accepted in New Jersey. Some were likely surprised that the playMGM Sports Android app was not the first to launch. For now, it’s completely separate from the casino and poker apps.

While MGM has name recognition, the app seems extremely basic compared to the Las Vegas version that is designed with strong graphics. The betting options are displayed within the individual sports menus. Users will not be able to access the lobby without creating/logging into account — another difference from the Las Vegas version. No deposit is required to check out the app.

Seven available deposit options make it easy to get in the game.

The biggest remaining question is when, as in when will the app be available to iOS and web browser users? Combined with a lack of a promo offer, bettors may find others options on this list more attractive.

Huge College Hoops Parlay Hits At BetStars Ahead Of March Madness

Sean Chaffin February 13, 2019
BetStars Parlay

The NFL season may be over, but bettors have a lot to look forward to with March Madness right around the corner. One New Jersey bettor put his college basketball prognostication to good use over the weekend, turning a $100 wager into a win of almost $45,000.

The bettor made the 10-team NCAA basketball parlay on BetStars – all moneyline action with accumulated odds of 445.8 to 1. The exact payout was $44,584.12 — not a bad day at the “office.”

The parlay legs included wagers on the following teams:

  • Cincinnati  (against Memphis)
  • Houston  (against Central Florida)
  • Oral Roberts (against Denver)
  • Old Dominion (against UAB)
  • Iowa (against Indiana)
  • Hawaii (against Long Beach State)
  • San Diego (against Loyola Marymount)
  • Washington (against Arizona)
  • Wofford (against East Tennessee State)
  • Nebraska of Omaha (against South Dakota)

Roller coaster

Getting to the finish line had plenty of ups and downs for this winner. Cincinnati trailed by six at the half, but came back to win by 5. Houston and Oral Roberts both won easily also. Old Dominion was outscored by 16 in the second half, but still won by 11 against UAB. Iowa topped Indiana by 5, Hawaii beat Long Beach State by 7, and the Huskies cruised over Arizona.

San Diego proved to be a close one and provided some sweat. The Toreros trailed Loyola Marymount by 2 at the half, but were able to turn things around and squeak out a 2-point victory.

Two games must have been particularly worrisome but swung the right way in the end. Nebraska of Omaha faced off against South Dakota in a major scoring fest. After 40 minutes of play, the game was tied at 87-87. The Mavericks outscored the Coyotes in overtime, however, to keep the parlay alive with a 107-102 victory.

The Wofford-East Tennessee State matchup also proved tough, but no double-digit parlay would be complete without some nervousness. The Terriers battled to a 64-64 tie against the Buccaneers but trailed late in the overtime period. Senior Fletcher Magee, however, nailed a 3-pointer as he was fouled with 31 seconds remaining in overtime. The free throw gave the Terriers a 75-73 and they held on for a 78-76 win.

The victory gave Wofford its 20th win and one New Jersey bettor a huge return on investment.

Looking ahead

With Selection Sunday set for March 17 and the first play-in games getting underway March 19-20 in Dayton, Ohio, bettors may be looking for some futures wagering as the tournament approaches.

As of Feb. 13, Tennessee was the top-ranked team in the nation with a 22-1 record. Duke followed the Vols at 22-2, followed by Gonzaga, Virginia, and Kentucky. Last year’s champion Villanova sat at No. 13 with a record of 19-5.

Here’s a look at current odds from the BetStars NJ on some of the favorites to win the title.

  • Duke: +175
  • Gonzaga: +850
  • Michigan: +1200
  • Virginia: +1300
  • Kentucky: +1400
  • Tennessee: +1600
  • Nevada: +1600

Super Bowl 2019 Props Extravaganza: Here’s What You Can Bet And Where To Find The Best Odds

Juan Carlos Blanco February 1, 2019
Super Bowl Props

A great deal of mainstream media coverage of betting action on the Super Bowl will focus on popular bet types such as the point spread and moneyline. However, as seasoned bettors well know, there are infinitely more wagers can be placed on The Big Game.

The most common are naturally proposition bets, commonly known as “props”. For the uninitiated, props are simply wagers that can be placed on a specific in-game occurrence that has a binary outcome. Props are typically available at sportsbooks at an individual player, team, or game level.

Prop bets give those placing them significantly more vested interest in a game as it unfolds. Unlike end-of-game wagers based on a point spread, moneyline or projected total, prop bets are settled before the final gun goes off. The higher degree of potential accelerated gratification (or disappointment) they offer and their straightforward nature make them significantly popular as “side bets.”

As with other wagers, payouts depend on the odds assigned. With some props encompassing rather improbable events or players, favorable odds that leave the sportsbook with plenty of exposure can be common.

For example, a wager on whether the first score of the game will be a safety, whether there will be a blocked punt by either team in the game, or whether Tom Brady will score a rushing touchdown all qualify as unlikely occurrences to a varying degree. Given their low probability, these prop bets will fetch you some very favorable odds.

Examples of common football-based prop bets

In football, some of the more common props include:

  • What team will be the first to score
  • What the winning margin of victory for either team might be
  • What type of scoring play will lead to the game’s first points
  • What teams will be in the lead at the end of any of the first three quarters
  • What the total amount of points in the first or second half will be
  • What player will be the first to score any points in the game
  • What player will be the first to score a touchdown
  • Whether a quarterback will throw for under or over a certain amount of yards
  • Whether a running back will rush for under or over a certain amount of yards
  • Whether a receiver will accumulate over or under a certain amount of receiving yards
  • What player will be named the game’s MVP

Naturally, that list is far from comprehensive, especially when it comes to an event such as the Super Bowl.

BetStars’ 100/1 Promo Wagers Proving Lucrative For Early-Season Patriots And Rams Backers

Sean Chaffin February 1, 2019

It’s been a long wait for many bettors who were able to drop a fiver on the BetStars Super Bowl promo earlier in the season. Early in the season, BetStars (the sports betting arm of PokerStars) offered gamblers an early season $5 Super Bowl future wager with minimum odds of 100/1.

The promotion, which ran from Sept. 14-30, offered the massive odds on any team in the NFL, but only one $5 wager. The site even raised the odds on the local New York Jets to 300/1. That was a nice value for a team that was really going at 80/1 at other books, but obviously, the Jets missed the playoffs for the eighth straight season.

Bettors cashing in

Those who placed those wagers on the Los Angeles Rams or New England Patriots are now in the driver’s seat and many may be looking to now hedge those bets to ensure some easy money. The Patriots began the season as the betting favorite to win the title at 6/1. The Rams were a heavy favorite as well at 10/1 – the same odds as the Super Bowl champion Eagles as well as the Vikings and Patriots.

BetStars told us this week that 46 percent of the 100/1 promotion bets were placed on the Rams, and 18 percent on the Patriots.

No doubt many viewed the Rams as a well-coached and talented up-and-coming team with a shot at some success. Five bucks must have seemed like it might be worth a shot at some decent money. Those bettors certainly are licking their chops for Super Bowl Sunday, and a non-call of pass interference in the NFC Championship game proved lucrative.

Amazingly, the two teams accounted for about 66 percent of all our Super Bowl betting through the promotion. The Patriots are a 2.5-point favorite heading into Sunday’s big game with the over/under hovering around 57. The game looks to a matchup of two potent offenses with a young coach and quarterback squaring off against a dynasty looking to bring home a sixth Lombardi Trophy.

And when all the hoopla, pregame show analysis, and celebrity appearances are over, plenty of bettors placed wagers in New Jersey early in the season will be eagerly watching and hoping to cash a nice ticket.

BetStars Inks Deal With NBA, Joins MGM As Authorized Gaming Operator

Marc Meltzer December 12, 2018
BetStars NBA

This week, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and The Stars Group (BetStars) announced a new multiyear gaming partnership. The Stars Group is now an authorized sports betting operator of the NBA in the US.

This partnership is the first for the Stars Group with a professional sports league in the US. As of this announcement, BetStars is only operating in New Jersey.

Inside the deal

The deal between the NBA and The Stars Group is similar the partnership the NBA and MGM Resorts International agreed on earlier this year. Here’s the part of the deal that should effect NBA bettors.

  • The Stars Group has the right to use official NBA betting data and league marks across their digital sports betting offerings.

Additionally, both entities will help market each other.

The Stars Group will be promoted across the NBA’s digital assets including NBA TV, NBA.com, the NBA App and NBA social media platforms. In return, the NBA will be promoted across The Stars Group’s gaming platforms.

This deal will include BetStars in the US, and PokerStars, which operates the world’s most popular online poker sites outside of the US.

The bottom line with this deal is that the NBA is paid for their name and data while The Stars Group and BetStars get promotion from the league and official data.

Data Deals: BetStars vs. MGM Resorts

In theory, this partnership puts BetStars on the same level as MGM Resorts International. The online and mobile sportsbook operator now has a similar deal with the NBA that the major worldwide casino operator has.

The marketing is good for the NBA and The Stars Group, but it’s really not something that’s useful for sports bettors at this time. The league could implement some kind of wagering opportunities in their games but it doesn’t seem as though that’s a priority.

Data deals with professional leagues in the US have great potential for sportsbook operators. The speed and uniqueness of the information should allow sportsbook operators to improve their betting product. Unfortunately, MGM Resorts International hasn’t used the data to offer new gambling experiences just yet.

While the mammoth casino operator has been slow to act with their league data, BetStars should be nimble enough to shake up NBA betting in New Jersey. Smaller and focused companies can often move quickly.

A casino operator has the challenge of selling various channels at multiple properties. For example, MGM Resorts, as a company, is selling a casino, entertainment, dining, nightclubs, spas, etc.

To date, MGM Resorts is signing deals and not improving their sports betting product for customers. That should come in time.

Meanwhile, The Stars Group only offers gambling products. This limited scope should allow BetStars to find ways to use the NBA data sooner than later.

BetStars is already offering more pre-game NBA wagering options than some other sportsbook operators in the US. On Tuesday night, BetStars had as many as 75 ways to wager on the Portland Trail Blazers vs. Houston Rockets. For comparison, MGM Resorts had 11 pre-game options for the game.

Official data from the NBA should allow both BetStars and MGM Resorts to offer unique In-Play wagering opportunities that other sportsbooks don’t or won’t offer. Sports bettors are eagerly awaiting new ways to gamble on their favorite games.

Local NY Giants Dominating NFL Betting Action At BetStars NJ

Both the shiny and familiar objects are getting plenty of attention from customers at BetStars NJ during the NFL season.

The New Jersey sportsbook’s latest data reveals much of what we’d suspect as we approach the NFL regular season’s stretch run:

  • Despite winning only two games, the New York Giants are the most frequently wagered-on NFL team (9.8 percent of NFL bets)
  • Two “legacy” teams with significant nationwide fandom — the Steelers (5.0 percent) and Cowboys (4.6 percent) — check in at number two and four, respectively.
  • The AFC’s hottest team this season, the Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs, check in as the third-most popular team for bets at 4.8 percent.
  • Another team with plenty of nationwide interest, the Saints, rounds out the top five at 4.0 percent of all NFL wagers.

Most popular teams a mixed bag versus spread

How have these favorite options performed against BetStars’ lines? Three — KC, New Orleans and Pittsburgh — have frequently rewarded those who’ve wagered on them to cover. They sport respective 80.0 percent, 77.8 percent and 66.7 percent success rates versus the spread thus far.

But, it’s been a different story for those who’ve plunked down some bucks on the pair of NFC East representatives. Both the Giants and Cowboys have each failed to beat the number in five of their nine tries.

Conversely, two other prominent clubs currently making a beeline for the postseason are curiously receiving far less attention from Garden State bettors:

  • The Rams, despite boasting a smorgasbord of offensive firepower that would seemingly engender plenty of confidence in moneyline bets, aren’t the darlings of bettors by any means — they check in as the NFL team with the fifth-fewest percentage of wagers (2.1) placed on it by BetStars customers. The issue may lie in the Rams’ rather surprising inconsistency in covering, despite their sparkling won/loss record — they’re only 4-6 (40.0 percent versus the number).
  • The fast-rising Bears and electric second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky may be thrilling the Chicago faithful, but their mostly impressive exploits have largely fallen flat with the East Coast crowd — the Monsters of the Midway rank dead last among NFL teams as the subject of a scant 1.4 percent of wagers. Unlike Los Angeles, Chicago has come through versus the spread twice as often as it’s failed — they sport a 6-3 record (66.7 percent) in that regard. However, early-season lack of confidence in Trubisky could have certainly helped drive that sparse action.

Big names wield big power in NBA as well

Star power is carrying the day when it comes to the hardwood, too.

LeBron James is a magnet for money in all sorts of ways, not just in the astronomical salaries he commands each time he “transports” his talents to a new city. The Lakers are the team of choice when it comes to BetStars customers in the new NBA season, commanding 9.6 percent of the sportsbook’s NBA action. The rest of the top five is fairly predictable as well:

  • Warriors: 7.6 percent
  • 76ers: 7.1 percent
  • Knicks: 4.9 percent
  • Celtics: 4.2 percent

The drop-off is steep after the top three, but as with the Giants, the Knicks hold plenty of appeal to area bettors. New York currently sports a 6-6-2 record versus the number over its first 14 games.

Meanwhile, the Warriors, Sixers and Celtics are all long on talent but notably short on reliability when it comes to those who’ve banked on them covering. Their respective records against the spread:

  • Warriors: 8-7 (53.3 percent)
  • 76ers: 6-9 (40.0 percent)
  • Celtics: 4-9 (30.8 percent)

Fittingly — considering Showtime reigns supreme as the most wagered-on NBA team — LeBron’s two former clubs are stuck bringing up the rear in terms of NBA action at BetStars:

  • Cavaliers: 1.5 percent
  • Heat: 1.1 percent

BetStars boasts its own unique college football leaderboard

On the college football side, BetStars features a top 25 poll that has its share of differences with current real-world NCAA rankings:

  • Consensus #1 Alabama finds itself the recipient of just 0.1 percent of the action at BetStars.
  • Unanimous runner-up Clemson is doing only slightly better at 0.6 percent.
  • A team with no shortage of nationwide prominence, history and appeal — No. 3-ranked Notre Dame — has them both beat with a 1.1 percent stake of the action.
  • Oregon may only have a 3-4 record and checks in fourth in the Pac-10 alone, but they’re top dogs at BetStars — 5.1 percent of college pigskin money is being plunked down on the Ducks.
  • The closest correlations between real-word and BetStars rankings belong to LSU and Washington State. Ranked No. 7 and 10 in the CFP and AP rankings, respectively, the Tigers check in second on BetStars with 3.4 percent of the college football action. Meanwhile, the Cougars’ unanimous No. 8 rankings in the official polls are complemented by No. 3 slotting in terms of popularity with BetStars customers (3.3 percent of wagers).
  • The team closest in proximity to New Jersey holding the highest ranking on BetStars leaderboard is the Penn State Nittany Lions — 2.3 percent of wagers, fourth overall.

BetStars NJ Sports Betting App: How To Get Started

Grant Lucas January 15, 2018

Since DraftKings Sportsbook became the state’s first online product at the beginning of August, the NJ sports betting mobile crowd has swelled to eight products — the latest of which fully activated on Sept. 13.

Welcome, BetStars

Through a partnership with Resorts Atlantic CityThe Stars Group, which operates the PokerStars NJ, introduced its BetStars sports betting platform.

Based out of the Isle of Man, The Stars Group joins the wave of European gaming companies expanding or making their first footprints on American soil.

With nearly a dozen sports betting licenses worldwide, BetStars has become a fixture in the wagering industry. At the time of the company’s partnership with Resorts, Matt Primeaux, SVP Strategy & Operations, USA at The Stars Group, noted how that experience will translate to the US.

“Working with our longstanding partner, Resorts, we are really excited to introduce a brand-new consumer experience by bringing New Jersey fans closer to the sports and the teams that they love,” Primeaux said. He then added: “We believe The Stars Group is uniquely qualified with the experience and insight needed to make sports betting a success in New Jersey.”

How to get started

Gaining access to the BetStars mobile sportsbook is simple.

For Android, users visit the BetStars NJ website and are faced with oversized font that is impossible to miss. A quick scroll down brings to the screen the “Get Our Android App” button. Upon selection, the app will begin downloading on the mobile device. Once complete, open the app, see the options, sign up and get cracking.

For iOS users, the BetStars product is similar. Download the app, sign up, see the games, get to betting.

BetStars at a glance

Courtesy of its overseas experience and success, BetStars features a clean interface with smooth navigation.

Upon opening the app on Android, users are taken to the home page that features “Highlights” of the day. In Friday’s case, that included the Odds Boost feature, which according to the BetStars website, boosts “the payouts of certain favorite bets each day to give you a bigger and better return.”

Also on the home page are two tabs that display a pair of features ideal for first users. The Popular tab includes the top games on which to wager, such as the weekend’s popular college football games or the top events from baseball, soccer, tennis, boxing/UFC and hockey. Neighboring the tab is In-Game, which offers in-play betting in contests currently underway. Near the bottom of the page are the Trending Bets, a self-explanatory section that features the contests drawing the most action from bettors.

For those not willing to scroll too much, or those who know exactly what sport and what games on which to wager, the top of the page will draw the most attention. Spread across the page beneath the BetStars banner are the wide selection of sports the app offers:

  • NFL
  • NCAA football
  • MLB
  • English Premier League
  • Football (in general, which includes NFL, NCAA and the CFL)
  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • Golf
  • Boxing/UFC
  • Hockey
  • Cycling
  • Motorsports

The app caters to the frugal bettors in the audience, offering minimum bets of just $0.01 for some events, the lowest in the NJ market. To boot, those penny wagers are vig-free.

Helping the app stand out from the crowd is the “Spin & Bet” feature that is a spinoff of the PokerStars’ “Spin & Go.” With this feature, users take a portion of their wagers and spin a wheel to possibly win up to a 10-time multiplier on potential winnings. Users select a bet type in the drop-down Spin & Bet section of the app, add it to their betting clips, enter the wager amount and click ‘Spin & place bet.’ Odds on the bet will then be multiplied by the spin’s outcome. In order to fund the “enhanced odds jackpot,” according to BetStars, “we deduct 10% from every Spin & Bet amount.

Primeaux has noted that one of the app’s features will be live streaming, which by initial launch had not been activated. With this feature, bettors can follow the action of their events without physically watching gameplay.

Additionally, A cashout option allows users to earn winnings before the end of a given event. Take Super Bowl LI, during which the Atlanta Falcons blew a 28-3 lead against the New England Patriots. If bettors feared such a comeback was in store, they can cash out before the rally even begins.

BetStars also offers several betting and deposit promotions. After signing up, users can wager $25 on any event on any day and received $5 in free bets. New players also have the opportunity to receive $500 in wagers. Bettors place a bet, up to $50, and have it matched by BetStars. On top of that, for every $150 wagered thereafter, another $50 in free bets come in, up to $450.
