Super Bowl score

The Super Bowl is over, and the Philadelphia Eagles are world champions. But what did the 40-22 Super Bowl final score mean for bettors? Did the favorite or the underdog cover? Did the over or the under come in? Read on to find out how Super Bowl odds shook out for bettors across the globe.

Which Team Covered In The Super Bowl?

The Eagles entered the Super Bowl as +1 underdogs in spread betting. That means they were expected to lose the game by one point.

Things played out quite differently. The Eagles defensive front dominated the Chiefs, and Patrick Mahomes and his pass catchers collectively struggled.

On the other side of the ball, the Chiefs stuffed Philly’s vaunted rushing attack. But Jalen Hurts did enough damage through the air. That, combined with the defense constantly winning the field position battle, resulted in the Chiefs allowing too many points to stay in the game.

The 40-22 Super Bowl final score meant the Eagles, the underdogs, covered easily.

Betting on the Eagles’ moneyline, which closed around -105, resulted in a $100 bet paying just over $95 back in profit.

Did The Super Bowl Go Over Or Under?

The 40-22 final score made this game the eighth-highest-scoring Super Bowl ever, tied with the Patriots vs. Falcons’ 2016 result.

Unsurprisingly, that meant over bettors cashed in. The total closed around 48.

It wasn’t looking great for the over bettors late in the fourth quarter. With about seven minutes remaining, the Chiefs had the ball trailing 40-6. They hadn’t mustered any offense for the meaningful portion of the game.

However, Mahomes led a 12-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to send the game over the total. He fired one last 50-yard TD bomb to Xavier Worthy afterward for good measure.
