Unique Super Bowl Novelty Props: Game Records, Octopus, Scorigami, Doinks

Super Bowl props

When the Chiefs faced the Eagles in Super Bowl 57, QB Jalen Hurts rushed for a touchdown and then again for the two-point conversion — a rare “octopus” (when a player accounts for all eight points). For years, sportsbooks offered odds on a player to score an octopus. Hurts recorded the first in Super Bowl history. No sporting event brings out unique props quite like the Super Bowl. From record-breaking performances to whether the Big Game ends in a Scorigami, the best NFL betting sites break out all the stops for their menu.

Whether you see an edge in one of these titular markets or want to lay a little pizza money and hope for a bizarre or specific outcome, these unique Super Bowl props may pique your interest.

Super Bowl 59 Odds: Chiefs Vs. Eagles

Click on the Super Bowl odds in the table below to bet on Chiefs vs. Eagles.

Unique Super Bowl Props

To find the props in this article, navigate to the “Super Bowl” tab in your preferred sportsbook’s app. From there, you’ll discover sub-tabs like “Super Bowl specials” or “Novelty props.” Do note that many of these markets carry a high vig given the uncertain nature of handicapping events like Scorigami and whether a team runs a flea flicker. Bet at your own risk.

Also, note that each sportsbook may word each prop differently. The odds below reflect the benchmark, not the prop wording itself. All odds below reflect a “Yes” bet.

Number Of Players To Attempt A Pass

49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings passed for a touchdown in Super Bowl 58 — a double screen pass that went for a 21-yard score to Christian McCaffrey. Two years before that, Bengals running back Joe Mixon threw a six-yard touchdown pass to Tee Higgins. In 2018, Eagles tight end Trey Burton tossed a touchdown to Nick Foles in a legendary Super Bowl play that was later named “Philly Philly.”

Patriots receiver Danny Amendola also attempted a pass in that game that went over Tom Brady’s head in a much-less-remembered play. New England also attempted a pass with Julian Edelman the year prior. It went incomplete.

Those attempts by non-quarterbacks mark five attempts in the past eight Super Bowls. It’s worth noting that three went for touchdowns — including each of the last three — meaning a more fruitful bet may be “Non-QB to record a passing touchdown” at +2000 versus +180 for this prop. In recent history, non-QBs attempted passes into or near the goal line. Jennings’ came from just outside the red zone.

Taking over on player pass attempts does include backup QB attempts, a safeguard over taking non-QB touchdown passes. Backups (or kickers/punters) could attempt passes on trick plays or in relief duty in case of injury.

Player To Score An Octopus

FanDuel Sportsbook also offers individual player octopus props:

  • Jalen Hurts to score an octopus: +2700
  • Saquon Barkley to score an octopus: +2000

Will Kicker “Doink” An Attempt? (FG Attempt Hits Crossbar Or Upright)

Will Super Bowl 59 End In A Scorigami?

Be careful betting on this prop! Some sportsbooks offer a Scorigami for a unique Super Bowl score. Others offer it for a unique NFL history score. Pay attention to the odds, as that should be your first clue as to which is which.

All of the following odds are for a unique score in NFL history:

Other Unique Super Bowl Props

Some of the most popular Super Bowl bets come from markets that are not offered in every state or any legal sportsbook. Coin flip bets headline this. We advise caution when it comes to betting on the coin flip as it is, in the most literal sense, a coin flip. The odds of heads is 50%, and the odds of tails is 50%, every single time, hard stop. However, sportsbooks may offer -110 (52.4%) or -120 (54.6%). We recommend only betting coin flip odds on promotional, fair value lines set at +100 or better per side at legal sportsbooks.

Other popular Super Bowl props that may not be widely offered include the national anthem over/under and Gatorade bath colors. Many sportsbooks hesitate to provide these props as they’re easily skewed or bet with inside knowledge (e.g., someone overheard a mic check). I only bet these props at legal sportsbooks.
