Kansas City Chiefs (+800 to )
These odds aren’t significantly shorter than in Week 4, yet the Chiefs still own the second-lowest price tag in this market. They’ve also accrued 13.1% of the overall Super Bowl betting handle at BetMGM.
Patrick Mahomes & Co. have compiled the league’s highest EPA per play, which was on full display at the Buccaneers. Nevertheless, their ensuing matchup against the Raiders could be considered a look-ahead spot, as the Bills are on deck in Week 5. Unless you believe Kansas City is set up to rip off consecutive wins, this juncture of the season might not be the best time to invest in Andy Reid’s team — for the long-term.
San Francisco 49ers (+2000 to )
While Deebo Samuel received much of the praise on Monday Night Football, Demeco Ryans’ defense may be the most impressive unit across the NFL. Not only has it yielded the fewest EPA per play, but its ability to manufacture the highest pressure rate (34.2%) while dialing back the blitz is an immense reason why as well.
Dallas Cowboys (+3300 to )
Similar to our NFL power rankings, the Cowboys are another team that has collected some attention. Their Super Bowl betting odds would continue to dip if they pull off the upset against the Rams, too.
However, regression is looming on both sides of the ball. For one, with signal caller Dak Prescott (thumb) still out, Cooper Rush ranks behind the likes of the Commanders’ Carson Wentz in Completion Percentage Over Expected — a metric that separates a QB’s performance from his opponents.
Defensively, the Cowboys have yielded the fourth-fewest Yards Per Play (YPP). But it’s noteworthy that it’s only squared off against a mix of injury-riddled and below-averages offenses. Dallas’ front-seven could take advantage of Los Angeles’ banged-up offensive line, but the Rams’ explosive playmakers represent a matchup advantage versus this secondary.
