Super Bowl 59 Halftime LIVE BET: Will We See Any Offense From the Chiefs?

The Chiefs’ offensive line was utterly helpless in the first half, leading to three sacks and seven quarterback hits. As a unit, Kansas City averaged 1.0 yards per rush. Perhaps worst of all, Patrick Mahomes threw two costly interceptions under pressure.

The last time we saw Mahomes and the Chiefs this far on the back foot was in Super Bowl 55 against the Buccaneers, where KC lost 31-9.

Down 10+ points isn’t new territory for KC. In all five Super Bowl appearances under Reid, the Chiefs fell behind by 10 points; coincidentally, the Chiefs are 3-1 outright in those games.

But this isn’t the Chiefs offense of years past, and they’re losing the line of scrimmage by a wide margin. The second-half total is priced regarding Reid & Co. making halftime adjustments and moving the football. At halftime, that second-half total sits at 23.5 points (Under -110).

As the Eagles nurse a 24-point lead, expect the time-of-possession to continue to be lopsided. KC doesn’t have the pass catchers to wiggle open against this Philly secondary, and Mahomes doesn’t have the time to push the ball downfield.

Offensively, Philadelphia ran at least seven offensive plays in four of five drives. The run game didn’t get going–the Eagles averaged just 2.8 yards per rush–yet Philly managed to prolong those drives. KC’s defense took a hit being on the field for so long, especially since the offense converted one first down.

I expect the lethargic offense and lackluster pace to continue as the Chiefs break out all the stops early in the half to get something going.
