Sungjae Im Odds: Why I’m Betting Him To Win First FedEx Cup Playoff Event
FedEx St. Jude odds are available at sportsbooks, with the tournament beginning Thursday in Memphis, Tennessee. While Sungjae Im may not be as much of a prolific winner as the others who surround him in this loaded playoff field, there is no question his current form falls in an elite tier to close the season, making him a dangerous contender at appealing odds for the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Here are all the reasons why I’m spotlighting him this week to contend at TPC Southwind. I’ve already locked him onto my FedEx St. Jude Championship outright betting card (available in TheLines.com’s free Discord).

WHY I like sungjae im to WIN THE fedex st. jude CHAMPIONSHIP
Like any other playoff format across the major sports landscape, it’s all about getting hot at the right time. Look no further than Lucas Glover’s improbable ascent at the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship, in which he parlayed his Wyndham Championship the week prior into back-to-back victories. Under the new structure of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, it makes sense for players who finish the regular season strong to carry over that success into Memphis, as the Wyndham Championship serves as one of the top comp courses to TPC Southwind.
In that regard, we should feel optimistic about the signs Sungjae Im has shown in Greensboro. He opened as the betting favorite at the 2024 Wyndham Championship and has looked the part of the favorite thus far, standing T15 through the first two rounds. Prior to the Wyndham Championship, Sungjae had strung together a tremendous stretch of form, with eight top-12 finishes over his last 10 PGA TOUR starts.
How certain players fare in swelteringly hot conditions can be an X-factor when handicapping FedEx St. Jude Championship odds, as Memphis in August is known to produce some of the hottest conditions we see all season. Sungjae, however, has proven to be at his best when the heat is on. His first two PGA TOUR wins have come in Florida at the Honda Classic and in the Las Vegas desert for the Shriners Children’s Open, so he should be ready to handle what Memphis throws his way. As evidence of that, he’s placed top-12 in each of his last two appearances at TPC Southwind.
Recent Form
In addition to the great recent form and course history, Sungjae has also played some of his best golf at the No. 1 comp course to TPC Southwind, East Lake Golf Club. At East Lake, Sungjae has gained strokes on the field in all five prior appearances, including a Runner Up finish in 2022.
Statistically, Im ranks top 10 in this field in:
- Recent Form
- Fairways Gained
- Scrambling
- SG: Putting (Bermuda)
Im ranks No. 12 overall in my model this week. All of these reasons are why I love Sungjae Im’s chances to win the FedEx St. Jude Championship this week.
