SugarHouse Connecticut bursts onto the scene

Because Rush Street Interactive won a bid for a contract with the Connecticut Lottery, SugarHouse is one of three online sportsbooks now available for CT residents and visitors to use. If you’re younger than 21 or you participate in the state’s gambling self-exclusion program, however, this isn’t for you.

All others are eligible to take part in legal sports betting in CT if they wish. That will eventually include betting on kiosks at up to 15 locations around the state, operating under the Lottery’s jurisprudence.

The CT Lottery has announced the first three of those are ready to go and just awaiting licensure from the CT Dept. of Consumer Protection. Those are Bobby V’s in Stamford and Windsor Locks along with Winners in New Haven.

Seven other Sportech locations should be ready by the end of the month. However, you can do all your wagering if you wish completely online using the SugarHouse app. All you need to get started is a few pieces of information, a few moments of time, and enough juice on your device to complete the process.

How to bring down the house with SugarHouse

At this time, the new CT-specific SugarHouse apps are not yet live for use, so you’ll have to register using a web browser. When those apps do go live, finding them should be quite easy. If you’re using an Android device, open the Google Play Store. For iOS device users, visit the App Store. Then, simply download the app and let your device take care of the installation.

Registering an account couldn’t be much easier. Just follow the prompts and provide the following information:

  • Date of birth
  • Email address
  • Last four digits of your Social Security Number
  • Legal name
  • Mailing address
  • Phone number

The sportsbook needs all of that information to verify your eligibility and identity in accordance with the law. Once you’re verified, it’s time to stock your account with fresh cash so you can place some bets.

Before you make your first deposit, though, note any promotions relevant to your initial deposit in the app. You might also get emails or notifications about such offers, so pay attention to those. After the sportsbook verifies your deposit, that’s it. You’re ready to go.

Speaking of going, you might have to make a move if you’re on tribal lands within the borders of CT. There are some special rules to note in that case.

Tribal gaming exclusivity and CT sports betting

The two Indigenous peoples groups who have reservations within the borders of CT rightfully maintain sovereignty over gambling on their lands. For that reason, you can’t bet with SugarHouse on the territories of either the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation or the Mohegan Tribe.

Both of those nations have their own deals for online sports betting. Bettors are limited to wagering with DraftKings Sportsbook on Mashantucket Pequot territory and FanDuel Sportsbook on Mohegan land.

Everywhere else in the state, though, you have your choice of all and any of the three. It’s also important to gamble responsibly and to check out the lines at all three CT sportsbooks to make sure you get the best deal. SugarHouse Connecticut is part of that.
