NBA Playoffs: Series Odds

When will warriors’ steph curry return vs. timberwolves?

After opening as series underdogs for the first time since the 2014 playoffs, Golden State upset Minnesota on Tuesday night despite losing Curry to a hamstring injury. Following the 99-88 win, Warriors coach Steve Kerr stated that Curry will unlikely be available for Game 2.

ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed this notion, reporting that Curry suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain and isn’t expected to play on Thursday. It’s the first strained muscle of his career, so the timetable for his return is unclear.

To boot, Charania noted that Curry could miss at least one week of action, meaning that his status for a potential Game 5 on Wednesday, May 14, would be up in the air. The market reflects this update, with Golden State priced as a underdog in Game 2. For context, the Warriors closed +6 (-105) ahead of their Game 1 win.

Per the table above, the Timberwolves’ series odds were adjusted from -165 to -200 (66.7% implied probability) following Charania’s announcement.

Curry left the game in the second quarter with the injury. He was unable to return, playing just under 13 minutes and finishing with 13 points.

Fanatics Sportsbook issued $500,000 in refunds on Curry player prop bets as part of its “Fair Play” policy. Customers mostly received refunds in cash. If their wagers were part of a parlay, the leg was voided, and the rest of the parlay played out.

This policy was expanded from the first quarter to the first half of the NBA playoffs.

How long will Steph Curry remain out in the NBA playoffs?

Although the Timberwolves have caught a break with Curry’s injury, their offensive woes still loom large. They’re shooting 12-of-76 from behind the arc (15.8%) over their last two games, the worst two-game shooting stretch in NBA postseason history.

In Game 1, Anthony Edwards and Co. generated a 17.2% three-point clip (5-of-29 shooting). Granted, Golden State deserves credit. Since Jimmy Butler’s Warriors debut on Feb. 8, they boast a 28-11 record with the NBA’s No. 1 defensive rating.

In the 2025 NBA playoffs, bettors have seen four underdogs of six or more points win in Game 1. Over the last 25 years, that’s already tied for the second-most victories in an entire postseason.

Including the Warriors’ Game 1 victory, underdogs have gone 5-0 straight up in the conference semifinals. Can Golden State continue that trend with Curry on the bench? We’ll find out Thursday night.
