Sportradar has been granted a sports gaming supplier license for the Ohio market. The Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) gave Sportradar Ohio access to its gaming technology. Ohio sportsbooks can now utilize Sportradar technology in their operations. This marks the 41st market license the popular sports tech giant holds.
Sportradar Meets Ohio
The announcement comes just weeks ahead of the official Ohio launch. Ohio sports betting goes live on January 1, 2023, statewide. Sportradar is a major tech and data provider for sportsbooks across the country, including being the official data provider of the NBA.
“We are delighted that the NBA has chosen Sportradar as the Official Partner who can support the global popularity and explosive growth of the game. Basketball is the largest U.S. sport in the world by popularity and, as a market leader, we are best positioned with the technological expertise and industry relationships to help the NBA entertain fans globally.”
Said Carsten Koerl, global CEO, Sportradar
This Ohio license only expands the company’s footprint in the sports betting market. Sports betting operators will be working closely with Sportradar as they expand into the Ohio betting market. There are several sportsbook licenses already granted ahead of the anticipated launch.
Sportsbooks Incoming In Ohio
Several sportsbooks have been granted conditional approval ahead of the January 1 launch. These include local sports teams like the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns as well. Multiple operators will be utilizing the Sportradar partnership to benefit their products.
With Ohio being a brand-new market, having a veteran presence like Sportradar will work to have the launch run smoothly. Sportradar is active across the sports betting industry and has experience with new markets.
Ohio will be the first new sports betting market to go live in 2023. It is expected that Massachusetts will shortly follow; although no set date has been made. Ohio will be one of the few markets to allow for sportsbooks at local stadiums and for local teams to hold betting licenses.
Fans are only a few weeks away from seeing their local market go live.
