WHAT group is Spain IN?
Spain, Croatia, Italy, and Albania have their work cut out after their Euro 2024 draw. The 2022-23 UEFA Nations League winners are the group’s favorites. Spain’s Euro 2024 odds are in the -110 range to be the Group B winner. Remember that Spain, Croatia, and Italy advanced to the 2023 Nations League semifinals.
As many as three teams can advance to the knockout phase and the Euro 2024 bracket. In the group stage, teams compile three points for wins and one point per draw. Whichever two tally the most points in the group will move on. Moreover, the four highest-scoring No. 3 finishers will advance. Thus, Spain’s fate may hinge upon other third-place finishers in the other groups if they also wind up there.

HOW Spain QUALIFIED FOR EURO 2024
Under the youthful leadership of Luis de la Fuente, Spain has experienced a resurgence, propelling them to finish as UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying Group A winners (ahead of Scotland) after beating Cyprus 3-1 in November. Spain was subsequently placed in Pot 1 with a victory over Georgia.
spain’s STARTING LINEUP
The national team is led by Rodrigo Hernández Cascante, known as “Rodri,” arguably the world’s premier defensive midfielder. He will provide his teammates with more opportunities to combine further up the pitch.
De La Fuente hasn’t officially disclosed his starters, but Lamine Yamal figures to start if he fits in. The same goes for Martin Zubimendi, Rodri, and Daniel Carvajal Ramos. He’s expected to utilize a 4-3-3 attack with a powerful midfield trio and customary attacking positioning.
Spain’s starting 11 is expected to be (4-3-3): Unai Simon; Carvajal, Le Normand, Laporte, Grimaldo; Rodri, Zubimendi, Fabian Ruiz; Yamal, Morata, Olmo.
Yamal is the top young player in Europe this season, but De La Fuente must consider his workload. Outside of Rodri, Pedro González López (known as Pedri) is another midfielder to watch, assuming he remains healthy.
