As we creep closer to the start of the 2026 World Cup, the matchups and rosters are crystallizing. All 48 sides had to submit their rosters by last Monday. Therefore, we know who will be potentially on the pitch for each country when they get ready to start group play later this week. Of course, that means that the betting odds are all out there as well. There are some questionable roster picks, injury concerns and plenty of big names ready to take the pitch.

One of the names that the USA is going to look to as far as contributing is one of the biggest names on their roster in Christian Pulisic. Let’s take a look at Pulisic and some of the potential numbers that are out there ahead of the start of World Cup play.

Pulisic’s Performance This Season

Pulisic, unlike some of the other big names in the tournament like Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo or Argentina’s Lionel Messi, still is in the prime of his career. He is 27 and turns 28 in September so it’s safe to say that we’ll see him again on this stage. Pulisic finished his third season with Milan in the Italian Serie A this past season. He tallied eight goals and four assists on the season. Pulisic made 30 appearances for Milan, making 18 starts. That was a drop from his stat line in 2023-24 (36 appearances, 32 starts) and 2024-25 (34 appearances, 29 starts) in his first two seasons with the team. Milan finished fifth this season with a mark of 20-10-8.

Pulisic’s World Cup History

This marks Pulisic’s second run with Team USA in the World Cup. He was a member of the US Men’s National Team in their run in 2022. He played in four matches during that run. In that span, he scored one goal and added a pair of assists. His lone tally was critical as it was the only goal in the United States’ 1-0 victory over Iran. Meanwhile, that goal was the one that sent the United States to the round of 16.

Pulisic was effective in the USMNT’s two runs in World Cup qualifying. He played 23 games, starting 18, in those qualifying rounds. Pulisic scored 12 goals and added five assists in those qualifying round contests. Despite scoring seven goals and five assists in World Cup qualifying in 2018, Pulisic was passed over for a roster spot.

Christian Pulisic Odds

To Win the Golden Boot: +8000, DraftKings

To Lead the United States in Goals: +320, DraftKings

Team USA to Win Group D: +140, DraftKings

It’s not a surprise that Pulisic is well down the list when it comes to the Golden Boot. The fact of the matter is that there isn’t a ton of confidence in the USMNT’s chances of a deep run. There also is the simple fact that the United States isn’t an offensive powerhouse as a side. That’s painfully obvious when you compare them to teams like Eng\and, Argentina, Spain and France. Pulisic isn’t going to generate a ton of offensive production unless the US decides to go on an all-out attack.

As far as leading Team USA goes, Pulisic is tied for the shortest odds with Folarin Balogun. It’s unclear how many opportunities he may get. For that matter, we don’t know how much run he or Balogun will get. Pulisic has the edge in experience but Gregg Berhalter isn’t running the squad now. That task falls to Mauricio Pochettino, who is trying to piece things together on the fly. He’s worth a flier here because if the Americans are going to score, one of those two are the likely culprit.

As for whether Pulisic can lead the Americans to a win in Group D remains to be seen. The injury concerns in the defensive midfield are concerning and Turkey is no pushover. As it stands, the USMNT should do worse than a draw with Paraguay and beat Australia. I’d likely hedge my bets here and back both the USMNT and Turkey to give a decent opportunity at a return.
