Tournament Notes

Per the odds table above, the best price on Alabama is . That’s equivalent to a 40.0% implied probability. The Crimson Tide last won the SEC tournament in 2021. Ironically, both of editions of Alabama own of the third-rated adjusted defensive efficiency (per KenPom).

Nate Oats’ crew certainly boasts its fair share of elite-level talent, led by five-star phenom Brandon Miller. However, the Tide’s defense has received plenty of positive variance to date, considering its SEC opponents are shooting a mere 25.9% from deep. If that’s not enough evidence, they’ve also allowed the highest 3-point attempt rate in conference play. Hence, negative regression is very likely en route.

Next up on the board is Tennessee, yet its sporadic offense won’t include point guard Zakai Zeigler (torn ACL) the rest of the way. Meanwhile, Kentucky may not have neither Cason Wallace (ankle) nor Sahvir Wheeler (ankle/tailbone), its lead guards, along with 3-point marksman C.J. Fredrick (rib).

Therefore, Arkansas () would be the only team I’d consider in this market. Not only do the Hogs possess the 16th-rated AdjD nationally, but they’re also finally healthier, with five-star freshman Nick Smith playing a full compliment of minutes in each of his last five games. Smith missed 19 games with a knee injury, and he showcases the potential to carry Arkansas to four consecutive wins.
