Scheffler Arrest Details

Scheffler is reported to have attempted to drive past a police officer into Valhalla Golf Club before being stopped and then handcuffed. The officer was attempting to stop Scheffler from driving around a detour. That reportedly resulted in the vehicle coming in contact with the officer at around 6 a.m. ET. Scheffler was arrested but then released in time to compete in the second round of the tournament.

Per usual, Scheffler entered that round in contention following a first-round 67.

“This morning, I was proceeding as directed by police officers. It was a very chaotic situation, understandably so considering the tragic accident that had occurred earlier, and there was a big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do,” said Scheffler in a statement. “I never intended to disregard any of the instructions. I’m hopeful to put this to the side and focus on golf today.”
