Barkley Expected To Push FOr 150 Yards Vs. Washington

In a shocking development, the market expects a big Barkley game here. The star tailback has a total yardage prop that is not far from 150 yards. Considering he averaged 142.7 YPG this year, that comes as little surprise.

Of course, we have a couple of prior matchups to draw from. As division rivals, the Eagles and Commanders already faced off twice this season. They split those meetings with a win apiece. Here’s how Barkley fared:

W16 (@ WAS)291502000

If you don’t feel like doing the arithmetic, that’s an average of 174 yards from scrimmage with four total TDs.

Interestingly, he didn’t receive a target in the second game. Following the game, Barkley said the Eagles were running a different offense in that spot. Kenny Pickett took most of the snaps, with Jalen Hurts exiting the game injured after four passing attempts.

In each game, Barkley had at least one play of 40+ yards, something to consider when examining “longest play” props.

Only three teams allowed more rushing yards to backs than the Commanders this season, and all are picking in the top 10.

By contrast, no team allowed fewer receiving yards to backs this season.

Other Barkley Props Include Short Touchdown Odds

Barkley spiked 15 times this season, which put him among the league leaders. Factoring in the aforementioned scoring binge against the Commanders, it’s no surprise he has almost prohibitively short odds of finding the end zone again here. Touchdown odds as high as -250 give him an implied probability north of 70%.

One thing to keep in mind here is the questionable health of Jalen Hurts. The sneak specialist has gotten quite banged up in the past month. First, he dealt with a concussion. Then, he got his knee twisted beneath him on an awkward tackle against the Rams.

Consequently, the Eagles seemed hesitant to use their patented push play. They finally opted to break it out on a crucial high-leverage snap near the goal line, only for Lane Johnson to flinch into a false start.

If that hesitancy lingers, Barkley will have a greater chance than usual to score.

That injury may also affect Barkley’s rushing attempts market. It may explain why his market number is 24.5 or 25.5, as that’s well above what he’s done the rest of this season. Barkley averaged 21.6 attempts per game with a median of 22.5.

Whether due to injury or some other factor, the Eagles have not gotten their passing game going. Hurts has yet to surpass 300 yards through the air in these playoffs. If he remains a low-volume passer, Barkley must shoulder the offensive load if the Eagles hope to move on.

Good luck if you decide to bet on Saquon Barkley’s odds this week.
