Saquon Barkley Contract Extended: Betting Odds & Predictions For Eagles' RB In 2025
Saquon Barkley wasn't a player who entered 2025 with any surrounding drama. Coming off a tremendous season and under contract for two more years, he was sure to play for the Eagles. However, he and the team nonetheless made some news on Tuesday. The two sides agreed on a contract extension that makes Saquon Barkley the highest-paid RB in history.
Let's examine the Saquon Barkley contract extension and the odds that NFL betting sites have posted for him.

The Barkley contract extension added two years and $41.5 million to his existing deal, which was already covering the next two seasons (2025 and 2026). Philly rewarded Barkley handsomely, with $36 million of that money guaranteed. Reports also say he can earn up to $15 million in incentives.
That means Barkley is now under contract at a hefty rate for his age-30 and age-31 seasons. One can question the wisdom of paying a back who has struggled with injury that sort of money into his 30s.
Can Barkley Surpass Lofty Over/Unders?
However, what's not in question is that Barkley projects as probably the most valuable back in football in the near term. He piled up 2,283 yards from scrimmage, leading the NFL while collecting All-Pro First-Team and Offensive Player of the Year honors.
With the Eagles potentially returning the entire offense aside from RG Mekhi Becton, Barkley's situation should be ripe for another elite season.
Still, several things work against Barkley, surpassing these high over/unders.
While 1,485 rushing yards might not look too crazy, remember that Barkley's 2,005 in 2024 represents the only time he has had more than 1,312 in his career. The Eagles will theoretically face a more challenging schedule in 2025 after winning the division.
Regarding touchdowns, Barkley has averaged eight per season outside of an abbreviated 19-attempt campaign in 2020. His 13 last year represented another career-best.
One thing to watch is whether the league takes legislative action against the Eagles' patented push play. QB Jalen Hurts has averaged 14 TDs over the past three seasons. In 2024, 11 of his 14 came from the 1. If the push play goes away, will Philly switch to regular QB sneaks, or will Barkley benefit from additional short-yardage touches?
