Same Game Parlay

While Jets at Colts may seem like an uneventful matchup because of the double-digit spread, there are still plenty of viable options for your Thursday Night Football same game parlay. Let’s break down where the value lies in the betting market.

A same game parlay (SGP) is combining multiple bets from one game or team into a parlay to increase potential winnings.

Jets At Colts: Same Game Parlay Analysis

Many bettors are pointing to the fact that the look-ahead shifted from Colts -14 to as a reason to back Indianapolis. But keep in mind, the preseason spread for this game was Indy -8.5. So which one is more of a market overreaction?

Let’s take Texans at Browns in Week 2 as an example. Houston outperformed market expectations in its season-opening win over the Jaguars while Cleveland blew a 12-point lead in Kansas City. The market initially bumped the line down from Browns -13 to -11.5, but it ended up closing at -13.5. Meanwhile, Tyrod Taylor & Co. still covered as double-digit underdogs.

Of course Tyrod Taylor deserves more consideration on your card than Mike White, but Texans-Browns showcases that while Frank Reich’s team is in a bounce-back spot after an overtime loss to the Titans, a blowout isn’t necessarily what’s on-deck.

The fourth-year quarterback demonstrated he’s a threat to expose the Colts’ zone defense, which by nature is susceptible to intermediate routes. Indianapolis will also be without its starting safeties Julian Blackmon (IR) and Khari Willis (calf).

There’s a full breakdown of this matchup in my NFL underdogs column, but I see some value in the Jets to hang within two scores. Hence, I’d structure the parlay around Jets and running back Michael Carter going over 29.5 receiving yards.

Carter should have his fair share of opportunities, following 25 targets over his last two games with White as the signal caller. Those SGP odds are +205 on DraftKings.
