When will Russell Wilson be back and return to Seahawks?
Football fans are asking when will Russell Wilson be back and return to the playing field. The Seahawks star dislocated his middle right finger and ruptured a tendon on Oct. 7 against the LA Rams. As for how long will Russell Wilson be out, mid to late November is the likeliest timetable on a return. Here are potential return dates while glancing at the Seahawks schedule.
Update: Wilson has been cleared to play and will face the Packers this coming Sunday.
- Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 14 at Packers
- Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 21 vs. Cardinals
- Week 12: Monday, Nov. 29 at Washington
- Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 5 vs. 49ers
The Seahawks have their bye week in Week 9 and Wilson is eligible to return in Week 10 against the Packers after being placed on IR.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was mostly mum on whether or not Wilson would be ready to go by the Green Bay game.
“I don’t know,” Carroll said on Oct. 21. “We don’t know that. The doctors can’t tell you that. Russ can’t tell you that.
“Russ is making progress. He’s definitely making progress.”
Los Angeles-based orthopedic surgeon Steven Shin performed hand surgery on Wilson on Oct. 8 and said he was “fully confident Russell will return to the NFL this season.”
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Oct. 8 that the Seahawks were prepared to be without Wilson for a month to possibly up to eight weeks. Under that time line, the earliest Wilson would come back is the Packers game, which would be five weeks since the surgery. The Seahawks game against the 49ers on Dec. 5 would be eight weeks.
A lot of this will depend on if the Seahawks still have a realistic shot at making the postseason by the time Wilson is ready to come back. Seattle plays in arguably the toughest division in football and they currently sit in last place. If the Seahawks are, say, 2-7 by the time Wilson is ready to return the front office may err on the side of caution and put their star QB on the shelf a little longer.
The Seahawks are currently to make the playoffs. Below are the best futures prices on Seattle.
Russell Wilson props
Wilson’s season long props at DraftKings Sportsbook prior to the start of the 2021 campaign were set at:
- 4250.5 passing yards
- 33.5 passing TDs
While Wilson has already racked up 1,196 passing yards and has posted 10 TDs this season, reaching those totals numbers with the amount of time he is expected to miss should prove to be next to impossible. Most Wilson props have been removed by sportsbooks due to the injury.
