Where Russell Wilson Made Headlines

When the Broncos acquired the nine-time Pro Bowler on March 8, his MVP odds immediately dipped from +3000 to +1400. Over four months later, Wilson is BetMGM’s biggest liability to win the award, tallying the highest percentage of tickets (18.7%) and money (17.9%) overall.

Bettors are just as bullish on Denver’s ceiling as they are for Wilson, considering the Broncos are also BetMGM’s largest liability among Super Bowl odds.

Last season, Wilson suffered a tendon rupture in his finger, a dislocation and two fractures in the Seahawks’ Week 5 loss to the Rams. Despite suiting up in 14 games, he accrued the lowest total quarterback rating (QBR) of his career.

Nevertheless, he’ll operate in a more pass-friendly offense with first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett — the former Packers’ offensive coordinator — after he was hamstrung by Pete Carroll’s run-heavy offense in Seattle.

Wilson is surround by a bevy of young receivers, as Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy lead the way. But keep in mind, much of his perceived upside is already baked into his price tag, meaning there is little to no betting value currently.

Unsurprisingly, third-year QB Justin Herbert sits directly behind his AFC West counterpart in regards to money wagered on MVP odds (17.2%) — with Josh Allen (13.0%), Tom Brady (5.1%) and Jalen Hurts (5.0%) following suit.

The Eagles’ signal caller saw his odds on draft night shift from +4000 to +2500 when Philadelphia acquired star wideout A.J. Brown from Tennessee.
