Rocket Mortgage Classic Odds: Bryson DeChambeau Heavy Favorite In Detroit

Posted By FairwayJay on June 27, 2021 - Last Updated on July 2, 2021

The PGA TOUR heads to Detroit over Fourth of July weekend for the third edition of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Expect fireworks again as low scores have dominated this event at Detroit Golf Club. The cut line has been 4 and 5-under-par in two tournaments, and last year’s heavy favorite Bryson DeChambeau won by three shots at 23-under-par.

Seven players ranked in the top 30 in the world are in the field including No. 9 Patrick Reed. Also, Webb Simpson and 2021 Masters Champion Hideki Matsuyama are top 20 and among the favorites as well.

Last year’s runner-up Max Homa also tees it up again in Detroit.

It rains birdies at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Soggy weather leading into the event and scattered showers projected on Thursday will soften the smaller, undulating greens. Tree-lined fairways on the front nine with more bunkers projecting the greens have provided little defense against the pro golfers. Three reachable Par-5s add to the birdie bonanza on the Donald Ross-designed course was renovated prior to the 2019 event, and it ranks as the flattest golf course on the PGA TOUR, according to ShotLink data.

Rocket Mortgage Classic Opens Door To Longshots In Contention

With a shootout more likely, it widens the list of players with longer golf betting odds to contend. While favorite Bryson DeChambeau won last year, it was 250/1 longshot and last man in the field Nate Lashley who won the event in 2019 with another big longshot, Doc Redman finishing runner-up.

Plenty of other bigger longshots have hit the leaderboard in the event. That opens the door to more popular prop bets and the opportunity to cash in on more longshots for top-10 finish or as potential winners.
