2024 PGA TOUR Golf Bets: Rocket Mortgage Classic Final Thoughts, Betting Card, OAD
The 2024 PGA TOUR golf season continues, with Detroit Golf Club next on tap to host the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, Michigan, beginning Thursday. Cameron Young, Tom Kim, and Min Woo Lee headline Rocket Mortgage Classic bets this week, as John Haslbauer provides his favorite picks among all the golf odds for this tourney. Below, you’ll find the best odds across betting sites for each player.
The PGA TOUR heads to the 313 a little earlier on the schedule than in previous years and our bets for the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Country Club are officially locked. A birdie fest awaits in one of the most defenseless courses on the PGA TOUR. All signs point towards a surprise, longshot winner. That is, at least, what I’ve planned my Rocket Mortgage Classic bets around. As always, TheLines.com allows you to compare golf odds across sportsbooks.
Below, we’ll go through my Rocket Mortgage Classic bets. Click the odds anywhere in this article to place Rocket Mortgage Classic wagers. For a full breakdown of the tournament and course, visit my Rocket Mortgage Classic preview.

HOW I BUILT MY Rocket Mortgage Classic BETTING CARD
The Rocket Mortgage Classic is one of the purest birdie fests on the PGA TOUR and is sure to require a score beyond 20-under-par to win. There is no resistance from tee-to-green on this course, guarded by the trees to protect from the wind and featuring very negligible rough around the fairways.
Any type of player can win here, but those with above-average and greater putting skills stand the best chance to separate.
From a unit allocation standpoint, it’s back to business as usual for my weekly stake at the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic.
- Outrights – 3.5U in to pay 25U each
- FRL – 0.5U in to pay out 10U+ each
- Full Tournament Matchups – 1U in to pay out 2U
- Props – 1.5U in to pay out 3U+ each
rocket mortgage classic BETS: OUTRIGHTS (3.5 UNITS)
Maverick McNealy
My Bet: +3000
Best Available Odds:
If there were ever a week teed up for Maverick McNealy to pick up his first career PGA TOUR victory, the stars are truly aligning for this one. McNealy carries great form into this week with three consecutive top-25 finishes, including a T7 in his latest start at the RBC Canadian Open. He excelled on the biggest stages this season, too, with top-10 finishes at the WM Phoenix Open and THE PLAYERS to go along with an impressive T23 showing at the PGA Championship.
Detroit Golf Club is a perfect fit for McNealy’s game, emphasizing the importance of putting skill and driving distance. He’s demonstrated that fit with finishes of T8 and T21 thus far at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Keith Mitchell
My Bet: +4000
Best Available Odds:
Keith Mitchell’s best chance to win his second PGA TOUR event was undoubtedly the Valspar Championship, where he carried a three-stroke lead into Sunday. His win equity may have been put into question ever since, but the stats suggest he’s a slam-dunk bet on paper at these odds.
Mitchell ranks No. 2 in my model, rating out top-5 in this field in terms of Comp Course History, Recent Form, SG: APP, SG: OTT, and Birdies or Better Gained. He’s been up and down with the putter this year, but his long-term form suggests he’s due to regress to the mean soon.
Taylor Pendrith
My Bet: +5000
Best Available Odds:
These odds corrected themselves quickly by Monday afternoon, and Pendrith’s consensus odds can now be found closer to half of this. The Pendrith steam is easy to understand, as he has not looked back since backing into his first career victory at comp course TPC Craig Ranch last month. He’s in the midst of a stretch that includes seven top-25 finishes over his last nine starts.
At the Rocket Mortgage Classic, Pendrith has paid off the logical course fit for his strengths of driving and putting, as he’s finished T2 and T14 over his first two appearances.
Ryan Fox
My Bet: +5500
Best Available Odds:
I’m always going to look the Kiwi’s way when we come to a bomber’s course in a weak field. Fox, while not quite a prolific closer, has shown a higher gear of winning tournaments on the DP World Tour, with three international wins since 2022. He has three top-10 finishes over his last seven starts to demonstrate that higher ceiling.
Ben Griffin
My Bet: +6000
Best Available Odds:
Griffin is the No. 1 overall player in my model this week, and he has a game that is best suited for easy birdie fests. He ranks top-10 in terms of Comp Course History, Recent Form, Weighted Putting, and Birdies or Better Gained over the last 36 rounds. Through that stretch, he’s shined with a runner-up finish at the RBC Canadian Open and a total of five top-20 finishes since March.
Matt Wallace
My Bet: +6500
Best Available Odds:
Matt Wallace continues to ride stronger form in the middle of the 2024 season. He’s now finished top-25 in four of his last five starts. From a profile fit standpoint, Wallace’s game translates best on layouts like Detroit Golf Club which allow for some inaccuracy off-the-tee in favor of pure driving distance.
Thorbjorn Olesen
My Bet: +9000
Best Available Odds:
The Danish veteran has spent much more time stateside on the PGA TOUR this season, and the results have followed. Since winning the Ras Al Khaimah Championship at the start of the season, he’s followed that up with top-15 finished at the Valero Texas Open and Myrtle Beach Classic. Like many of the other players I’m targeting this week, Olesen separates with his driving distance and putting skill.
Chandler Phillips
My Bet: +12000
Best Available Odds:
The standout PGA TOUR rookie continues to impress with his consistent approach play, ranking top-10 in the field this week. Approach play should translate to any course on the PGA TOUR, and he’s proven he can hang around in contention already this season with back-to-back top-12 finishes in his latest two starts.
rocket mortgage classic BETS: FIRST-ROUND LEADER (0.5 UNITS)
Aaron Rai
My Bet: +5500
Best Available Odds:
Accurate plodders are not disadvantages at Detroit Golf Club, and Rai’s ball-striking form in this weaker field makes him one of the most viable pre-tournament contenders. He’s well suited to go low on this layout come Thursday.
Chris Kirk
My Bet: +7500
Best Available Odds:
Chris Kirk has fallen out of form in recent week’s but the odds reflect that, and the Rocket Mortgage Classic represents the perfect bounce back for him. He ranks top three in terms of Course History here with top-20 finishes in all four prior appearances at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Ben Griffin
My Bet: +7500
Best Available Odds:
I still have some questions about Griffin’s ability to close a golf tournament, but his Sunday push at the end of the RBC Canadian Open may have swayed me otherwise. In any case, he’s one of the most reliable birdie-makers in this field and sets up well to get off to a hot start here.
Patrick Rodgers
My Bet: +8000
Best Available Odds:
Bombers who can catch a streaky putter are the archetype I’m chasing this week, and Patrick Rodgers fits that persona better than most others in this field. Like my other FRL targets, I trust him more in one-round increments than over a full tournament.
Kevin Yu
My Bet: +8000
Best Available Odds:
Kevin Yu is becoming a popular FRL target because his ball-striking ceiling is world-class, and his putting ability is about as volatile as it gets on TOUR. If we get a spike putting showing from Yu, the rest of his tee-to-green game is perfectly suited to score at Detroit GC.
Rocket mortgage classic BETS: PROPS (2.5 UNITS)
Full Tournament Matchup: Ben Griffin > Ryan Fox
My Bet: -110
It’s taboo for me to bet against one of my outrights in the matchup market, but when I approach matchups, I’m more prone to take the full range of outcomes into account. Griffin’s sustained run of top-20 finishes this season leaves me more room for optimism that he will find his way through the weekend. Fox’s boom-or-bust play brings the possibility of a missed cut more into play here.
Top-20 Finish: Ben Griffin
My Bet: +250
Best Available Odds:
It’s a scary thing to be this invested in Ben Griffin. But, every now and then, there comes a player who I am much higher on than the consensus odds suggest. With Griffin, I see several paths for him to score well on this course, and I like what I’ve seen from his form over the last few months.
Top-20 Finish: Chandler Phillips
My Bet: +420
Best Available Odds:
Phillips’ high approach baseline should help carry him at Detroit Golf Club relative to those priced around him towards the bottom of the betting board. He’ll enter in great form with top-12 finishes in each of his last two starts.

ONE AND DONE
My Pick: Maverick McNealy
It’s taken awhile for me to buy back into McNealy post-injury but his current streak of top-25 finishes tells me any lingering injuries are far behind him now. His game is best suited for birdie fests than reward driving distance and putting skill, so there are few events remaining on the schedule that will play into his strengths more than this week’s set up.
If not McNealy, I would also consider playing Min Woo Lee, Alex Noren, or Taylor Pendrith in OAD.
That’ll do it for this week’s PGA TOUR golf bets. Best of luck this week with your own Rocket Mortgage Classic bets, and see you on Sunday for the John Deere Classic preview.
