As August rolls on, prediction markets continue expanding into new sports and major events. While football has grabbed much of the attention with the preseason kicking off this week, soccer and golf are beginning to generate plenty of interest as well.

Today's prediction markets news focuses on the Leagues Cup title race and the 2027 Ryder Cup. While the Ryder Cup is still more than a year away, captain selections, qualification races and ticket sales are all beginning to ramp up, bringing increased attention to one of golf's biggest events. With that in mind, let's take a look at these two markets.

Is Inter Miami Worth Backing in the Leagues Cup?

The Leagues Cup is officially underway, bringing together MLS and Liga MX clubs in one of North America's premier soccer tournaments. The competition will run through early September before the MLS regular season resumes, making this one of the biggest international trophies available to clubs on the continent.

To nobody's surprise, Inter Miami sits atop the Polymarket board with a 49% probability to win the tournament.

That position is easy to understand.

Not only has Inter Miami established itself as one of MLS's premier clubs, but Lionel Messi remains one of the greatest players in the world. He reminded everyone of that throughout the recent World Cup, and in a knockout tournament like this, few players have the ability to take over a match quite like Messi. Combined with the experienced roster around him, Inter Miami deserves its status as the favorite.

Still, knockout tournaments are rarely predictable.

Clubs like Los Angeles FC, Cruz Azul, Guadalajara and several others have more than enough talent to make a deep run if they catch momentum over the next few weeks. That's what makes this market so intriguing.

For those following prediction markets news, the biggest question isn't whether Inter Miami is the best team. It's whether nearly half of the market accurately reflects its chances of winning the tournament or if the depth of the field creates more value elsewhere.

Ryder Cup Landscape Beginning to Take Shape

Although the 2027 Ryder Cup remains more than a year away, the market is already beginning to develop.

Team Europe currently holds a 56% probability on Polymarket compared to Team USA's 44%, and that shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Europe has enjoyed tremendous success in recent Ryder Cups, and with the 2027 event scheduled to be played on European soil, home-course advantage naturally strengthens its position.

That doesn't mean Team USA lacks value.

The American roster continues to feature many of the world's highest-ranked golfers, and while talent alone doesn't determine Ryder Cup success, it certainly provides a strong foundation. Unlike traditional golf tournaments, the Ryder Cup places enormous importance on chemistry, pairings and team dynamics, making it one of the sport's most unique competitions.

Part of the reason this market has become more active is that preparations are already underway and early milestones are occurring. Captains and vice captains are beginning to take shape, qualification races are developing and ticket sales have increased attention on the event despite it still being more than a year away.

Prediction markets news often centers around identifying value before public perception changes. While Europe deserves to be the favorite today, Team USA's current position could become increasingly attractive as qualification races unfold and the projected rosters begin to solidify.

As more tournaments are played and additional information becomes available, both of these futures markets will continue to evolve. For anyone following prediction markets news, the Leagues Cup and the Ryder Cup remain two of the biggest long-term markets to watch over the coming weeks and months.
