We’re back and looking at the best prediction markets news today on Kalshi! In this series, we won’t necessarily stick to just sports. We’ll look at the markets trending for trades on Kalshi and put a little context behind each one. Let’s dive into the action for August 5.

Prediction Markets News Today for August 5

We’ll start with music. Ariana Grande just dropped her new album, Petal, and prediction markets are already weighing in on how big the first week will be.

Kalshi’s “Ariana Grande: First Week Album Equivalent Units” market lets traders buy and sell contracts on where her U.S. first-week total lands for the July 31–Aug. 6 tracking window. The exchange notes that the market is U.S.-only and resolves on the Sunday immediately after that week.

Right now, traders are betting on a strong opening:

People.com recently pointed out that Grande’s appearance and health have been the subject of heavy public chatter, saying that talk “ramped up” after the graphic, chainsaw‑heavy video for “Petal” went live alongside the album. The same piece notes she plans to “take a step back” once her tour wraps.

Put those together, and you get a clear story: fans know Petal might be the last big moment for a while, and prediction markets are pricing in that surge. The only real debate is whether she merely clears the 300K bar or blows past the higher tiers and makes the long shots at 340K and beyond worth a lottery ticket.

Kalshi Politics: Will Jeanine Pirro Announce Her Departure?

Now to D.C., where Jeanine Pirro’s job security has become a market of its own.

Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia and a close Trump ally, landed in the spotlight after an unusual Oval Office meeting. CBS News reported that she showed up at the White House carrying a box of evidence in an effort to convince the president that damage to the Reflecting Pool was tied to poor construction rather than vandalism. That meeting followed a public scolding from Trump over her office's decision to drop charges against Olympic canoeist David Hearn.

CBS described how Pirro was later seen leaving the White House hauling that white box and other bags, which contained materials from the Interior Department backing the decision to dismiss the case. It’s the kind of scene that naturally kicks off speculation about where she stands inside the administration.

On Kalshi, that speculation has been formalized into the “Jeanine Pirro announces departure as D.C. U.S. Attorney?” market. Traders are predicting when — or if — she’ll publicly say she’s leaving the job.

The current market looks like this:

Kalshi spells out detailed rules for this one. The contracts settle based on when her departure is publicly announced or officially communicated, no matter when the change actually takes effect.

Short‑term leaves, suspensions, or recusals don’t count unless she formally gives up the role for good. “Leaving” includes resigning, retiring, being removed, or simply reaching the end of a term and not staying on.

In other words, traders aren’t just guessing about whether Trump stays angry over the Reflecting Pool case. They’re putting hard numbers on the chances that Pirro ends up out of the job in the next year — whether that’s by her choice or someone else’s.

That’s a wrap on today’s top prediction markets. Good luck, and happy trading!
