#1-#16 Michigan vs. Howard Preview & Predictions Markets

Michigan enters the tournament as one of the most complete teams in the country. Yaxel Lendeborg leads the way with 14.6 PPG, 7.0 RPG, and 3.2 APG, while Elliot Cadeau controls the offense with 5.6 assists per game. The Wolverines also protect the rim well, with Aday Mara averaging 2.6 blocks per game, making them a nightmare matchup for lower seeds.

Howard, meanwhile, has some intriguing offensive pieces. Bryce Harris leads the team with 17.1 PPG and 7.1 RPG, while Cedric Taylor III also adds 17.1 PPG. The Bison can score, but the gap in size and depth is significant. Expect Michigan to control the game early and pull away.

#8-#9 Saint Louis vs. Georgia Preview & Predictions Markets

This is one of the most evenly matched games in the Midwest Region. Saint Louis is led by Robbie Avila, who averages 12.9 PPG and 4.1 APG, giving them a unique playmaking presence at the center position. They also have strong guard play, with Trey Green shooting 45.7% from three.

Georgia brings a dynamic scoring duo with Jeremiah Wilkinson (17.0 PPG) and Blue Cain (13.3 PPG, 5.1 RPG). The Bulldogs are slightly more explosive offensively, but Saint Louis plays a more balanced style. This matchup could come down to late-game execution, making it a true coin flip.

#5-#12 Texas Tech vs. Akron Preview & Predictions Markets

Texas Tech will look very different in this matchup with JT Toppin out for the year, removing one of the most dominant players in the country from the equation. That puts even more pressure on Christian Anderson, who is averaging 18.9 PPG and 7.6 APG, to carry the offense. In comparison, Donovan Atwell (13.5 PPG, 45.4% from three) becomes a key scoring option on the perimeter.

Akron now becomes a very live underdog. Tavari Johnson leads the Zips with 20.1 PPG and 5.0 APG, and Amani Lyles adds 14.6 PPG and 8.0 RPG, giving them a strong inside-out combination. Without Toppin anchoring the paint, Akron has a real chance to control the tempo and keep this one close, making this a much more dangerous matchup for Texas Tech than it looked initially.

#4-#13 Alabama vs. Hofstra Preview & Predictions Markets

Alabama's outlook changes significantly with Aden Holloway suspended, removing one of its top-scoring guards from the rotation. That means even more responsibility falls on Labaron Philon Jr., who is averaging 21.7 PPG and 4.7 APG, while Amari Allen (11.7 PPG and 7.1 RPG) and Aiden Sherrell (11.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 2.3 BPG) will need to step up on both ends.

Hofstra suddenly looks like a much more intriguing upset candidate. Cruz Davis is averaging 20.2 PPG and 4.6 APG, with Preston Edmead adding 15.9 PPG, giving the Pride a backcourt that can exploit Alabama's thinner guard depth. If Hofstra can dictate the pace and force Alabama into half-court sets, this matchup could get very interesting late.

#6-#11 Tennessee vs. SMU/Miami (OH) Preview & Predictions Markets

Tennessee is led by Ja'Kobi Gillespie, who is averaging 18.0 PPG, 5.5 APG, and 2.1 SPG, making him one of the most complete guards in the field. Nate Ament adds 17.5 PPG and 6.6 RPG, while J.P. Estrella chips in 10.1 PPG.

Whoever comes out of the First Four will have momentum, but Tennessee's defensive intensity and balance should carry them. Still, this is a trendy upset spot if the Vols struggle offensively.

#3-#14 Virginia vs. Wright State Preview & Predictions Markets

Virginia brings its usual disciplined style, led by Thijs De Ridder with 15.5 PPG and 6.2 RPG. Malik Thomas adds 12.4 PPG, while Ugonna Onyenso anchors the defense with 3.0 blocks per game.

Wright State is more guard-oriented, with Michael Cooper (13.4 PPG) and TJ Burch (12.3 PPG and 3.5 APG) leading the way. If they can hit shots from deep, they could hang around, but Virginia's defense should dictate the pace.

#7-#10 Kentucky vs. Santa Clara Preview & Predictions Markets

Kentucky has a balanced attack led by Otega Oweh, who averages 18.2 PPG and 4.6 RPG. Denzel Aberdeen adds 13.2 PPG and 3.6 APG, while Malachi Moreno contributes 8.0 PPG, 6.4 RPG, and 1.6 BPG. Santa Clara is led by Christian Hammond (15.8 PPG) and Elijah Mahi (13.9 PPG), while Allen Graves adds 11.6 PPG and 6.5 RPG. The Broncos are a solid team, but Kentucky's athleticism and depth should give them the advantage.

#2-#15 Iowa State vs. Tennessee State Preview & Predictions Markets

Purdue will always carry the stigma of being upset in some of the most shocking losses in the NCAA Tournament over the past decade. This team is built differently, and with a senior point guard in Braden Smith, who only needs two assists to break the NCAA record, they are playing their best ball all year. Unlike the Zach Edey-led teams, this squad's guards are too good to get beaten as a two seed.
