Pros and cons of these prediction market platforms for the XRP event contract

Here are the overall pros and cons of the platforms we reviewed:

Pros & Cons

  • Simple binary contracts on Ripple’s price action
  • Fully regulated by the CFTC
  • Flexible time frame to trade XRP event contracts
  • Polymarket is the only platform with true five-minute XRP contracts

3 key takeaways from Ripple 5 minute prediction markets

What happens at a Ripple 5 minute prediction market?

A Ripple 5 minute prediction market is an options-style trading market that lets you trade in the direction of the crypto asset every 5 minutes.

From our review of Ripple prediction markets, you’re not buying XRP directly. Instead, you’re purchasing a binary contract that resolves based on whether Ripple’s price finishes above or below a fixed target price after the given time frame.

  1. A prediction market platform provides a question such as:

    • XRP 5 mins: $1.23
    • Up (54¢) or Down (46¢)

What that is simply asking you is: In the next 5 minutes, would XRP trade above or below the target price of $1.23?

  2. If you’ve made a Ripple 5-minute chart analysis, and you believe the market will be bullish in the short term, you can buy the Up contract at 54¢ at the start of the 5-minute event.

  3. After two minutes, XRP’s price may start trading below the target price. At this point, traders can start purchasing Down contracts. Eventually, the Up contract may drop to 30¢ (formerly at 54¢). That means you’re down by -24¢ (54¢ - 30¢).

  4. At this point, you can do one of the following options:

    • Stick around and hope that XRP’s price turns around and trades above $1.23 in the next three minutes.
    • Exit your Up contract at 30¢ to minimize loss or trade the Down contract.
  5. Let’s assume you chose option A, and XRP finally moves above the target price. In that case, all Up contracts will resolve at $1, and all Down contracts will resolve at 0¢. As such, you have a profit of 48¢ ($1 - $0.54). But if the XRP price traded below the target price, your Up contracts will resolve at 0¢.

  6. After that event is done, another 5-minute session starts with a different price target but the same “Up” or “Down” contracts.

This is exactly how Ripple 15-minute prediction markets work. The only difference is that instead of a 5-minute timer, you’re now waiting for the contract to resolve after 15 minutes.

Which platforms offer Ripple 5 Minute prediction contracts?

We need to be upfront with you here. Not every platform on the list below offers five-minute XRP contracts. Some come close. Others don’t support this timeframe for Ripple at all. The table below shows where each platform stands.

PlatformIs the XRP Event Contract Available?Shortest Time-Frame
PolymarketYes5 minutes
KalshiYes15 minutes
Crypto.com (OG.com)Yes20 minutes
RobinhoodYesDaily
Underdog PredictYesDaily
PrizePicks PredictYesDaily

Polymarket is the clear leader for five-minute XRP contracts right now. Kalshi and Crypto.com’s OG.com offer the closest regulated alternatives, with 15- and 20-minute intervals, respectively. Now, let’s review each of these platforms.

1. Kalshi: The first licensed prediction market platform in the US

Kalshi is a Designated Contract Market (DCM) regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which makes it one of the most reliable platforms for US traders to get started. When it comes to trading XRP short-term contracts, the shortest timeframe to do so is 15 minutes. You won’t see a Ripple 5 minute prediction market here.

Still, the event contracts operate the same way. The platform sets a target price, you purchase Up or Down contracts, and a real-time dashboard shows the live price of XRP and a timer so you can watch the results unfold. The platform pays 99¢ per contract if your prediction is correct at the end of 15 minutes or 0¢ if your prediction is wrong.

2. Crypto.com (via OG.com): A global exchange that launched its prediction market product

Crypto.com is a global cryptocurrency exchange that has a prediction market product called OG.com. It lets you trade the outcome of cryptocurrency price action. However, the shortest event contract you can trade for XRP is 20 minutes, with 2-hour, daily, and weekly contracts also available. There is no Ripple 5-minute or 15-minute event contract.

While the concept is similar, OG’s trading interface is different. The platform presents you with multiple price levels within a 20-minute timeframe. Then, you choose and trade contracts on the price levels you believe XRP will trade above or below before the contract expires. This approach is designed for advanced position traders with deeper market insights.

3. Polymarket: A top crypto prediction market to trade XRP 5-minute event contracts

Polymarket is currently the only platform that offers five-minute contracts on selected cryptocurrencies, including XRP. The concept is similar to Kalshi’s 15-minute market, where you’ll get a set target price and then purchase Up or Down contracts.

Then you’ll wait 5 minutes for the market to settle to see if your prediction is correct. Correct predictions settle at $1, incorrect ones settle at $0.

The platform offers additional flexibility for Ripple 5-minute event contract trading. You can either choose to place a market order (at the current contract price) or a limit order (at a contract price of your choice). This gives you more control over your trades.

However, we noted something interesting in our reviews. The XRP prediction market is less liquid than the Ethereum or Bitcoin prediction markets, regardless of the time frame. This is something you should keep in mind if you choose to trade the asset.

Robinhood is a popular investment app in the US that has also launched its prediction markets to meet the growing interest in event-contract trading. It supports major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Solana, and Dogecoin.

However, it doesn’t offer ultra-short event contracts on cryptocurrencies, including XRP. However, it has one of the simplest and cleanest user interfaces around, making it a good platform for beginners to trade long-term crypto event contracts.

5. Underdog Predictions: A top prediction market product

Underdog is a familiar brand in the Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) space and has launched its prediction markets platform called Underdog Predict. The event contracts are backed by the CFTC-regulated Crypto.com Derivatives North America (CDNA) exchange, and it offers sports, politics, economy, and pop culture markets across 33 states in the US.

Ineligible regions are Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

But just like Robinhood, Underdog Predict does not offer short-term crypto event contracts, including 5 minute and 15 minute XRP prediction markets. The platform is primarily geared towards sports events. If this kind of market interests you, check if the platform is available in your state before you register.

Trading derivatives involves risk and may not be appropriate for all. For more information visit: https://www.nadex.com/rules and https://underdogfantasy.com/rules. For Crypto.com Predictions, the term "pick" refers to a product traded on CDNA.

6. PrizePicks Predictions: A notable DFS platform with available event contracts

PrizePicks is a DFS site, offering over/under player props in sports. However, its new prediction market product (PrizePicks Predict) allows users to trade outcomes on real-world events, such as sports, pop culture, politics, cryptocurrency, climate, and the economy.

You won’t find the Ripple 5 minute or 15 minute prediction market here. PrizePicks Predict is better for those looking for longer time-frame crypto events, especially Bitcoin or Ethereum prediction markets.

To be fair, the platform has an intuitive interface and a growing number of prediction markets, so we may see shorter-term event contracts available. But for now, you’ll have to wait.

Register at one of these prediction market platforms and trade XRP event contracts

Ripple 5-minute prediction markets allow you to trade the potential outcome of XRP’s price direction in five minutes. Simply predict whether XRP will be above or below a certain price in five minutes by buying a binary contract (Up/Down) and waiting for the outcome.

Among the platforms we have reviewed, Polymarket is the only one that provides 5-minute XRP contracts. Kalshi, OG.com, and Polymarket itself provide regulated markets for 15 and 20-minute contracts, as well as longer-term contracts. 🕒 What is a Ripple 5 minute prediction market?
It’s a 5-minute binary event contract that settles at the end of the period and asks whether XRP’s price will be above or below a target at that time. You buy Up or Down contracts, and they settle at $1 if your prediction is correct and $0 if it isn’t.
💰 Where can I get five-minute XRP contracts?
Currently, five-minute XRP contracts are offered only on Polymarket.
📊 How is the price of contracts set?
