2023 Preakness Stakes Schedule

The race was originally gifted its nickname since a blanket of Maryland’s state flower, the “black-eyed Susan,” is placed across the withers of the victorious colt or filly. In the past 147 races, only six fillies have won the Preakness. All times below, for the variety of contestants, are EST.

  • TV: NBC, Peacock, NBCSports.com, NBC Sports app
  • Location: Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore
  • Date: Saturday, May 20, 2023
  • Post time: 6:50 p.m.

Just like in NASCAR odds, with the Daytona 500, the Triple Crown races tip off via the Kentucky Derby, which saw Mage backers cash at 16-1 odds. Following the Preakness, the Belmont Stakes completes the Triple Crown races. While Triple Crown odds are off the board at most sportsbooks, Mage can be found at +650 to accomplish the rare feat.

His path to winning the Derby became somewhat clearer when favorites Forte and Practical Move were scratched. Although Mage began in the back of competition, he utilized a respectable Beyer Speed Figure to win the Derby by a length in just his fourth race.

Preakness Stakes Schedule Tidbits

Ahead of Mage’s attempt to win consecutive Triple Crown legs, there is even more horse racing action. The full Preakness card begins at 1 p.m. These early races will air on CNBC. On top of that, FanDuel TV+ will provide additional coverage throughout the day.

Don’t forget that the Preakness Stakes schedule officially starts with the 98th Black-Eyed Susan Stakes on Friday, May 19, streaming on Peacock from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Post time is at approximately 5:44 p.m.

TheLines will have you covered with any potential changes on when the Preakness starts this year as well.
