The 2023 PGA TOUR season may be over now, but there is still professional golf action this week in the Naples, Florida to consider for your golf bets. The 2023 Grant Thornton Invitational at Tiburon Golf Club is next on tap. Find PGA TOUR golf odds at the best betting sites to increase your potential Grant Thornton Invitational payouts. Tony Finau & Nelly Korda and Ludvig Aberg & Madelene Sagstrom project as the top favorites for this upcoming team event.

It takes two to tango, and this annual year-end team event will showcase some added flair in 2023. This Friday, Dec. 8, the 2023 Grant Thornton Invitational at Tiburon Golf Club will introduce a new, innovative team format with mixed pairings from the PGA TOUR and LPGA TOUR.

Team events and limited fields tend to add more randomness to golf handicapping, but there is still plenty of trends to draw from this longstanding event before placing your 2023 Grant Thornton Invitational bets.

Here is the full odds table for all 16 teams participating in the Grant Thornton Invitational, provided by BetMGM. Scroll to the bottom to compare sportsbook odds.

For the first time in this event’s history, all 16 team teams will consist of one PGA TOUR player and one LPGA TOUR player. At the 2022 QBE Shootout, Nelly Korda finished T5 alongside Denny McCarthy, and Lexi Thompson finished T12 alongside Maverick McNealy, opening the door for the full field of mixed men’s and women’s teams we have today.

Ludvig Aberg, Tony Finau, Jason Day, and Rickie Fowler highlight the top names on the PGA side. Lilia Vu, Ruoning Yin, and Celine Boutier are the top trending players from the LPGA TOUR, while Lexi Thompson, Nelly Korda, and Rose Zhang offer decorated pedigrees in their own rights.

From a team chemistry standpoint, Corey Conners & Brooke Henderson have a longstanding history as fellow Canadians. Ludvig Aberg’s caddie is engaged to fellow Swede Madelene Sagstrom. Nick Taylor & Ruoning Yin have both worked with the same caddie and short-game coach.

Sahith Theegala and Tom Hoge are both back to defend their 2022 QBE Shootout title, though split up with separate partners this go around. Harris English and Jason Day have also won the event in previous years. On the LPGA side, Lydia Ko, Lexi Thompson, and Charley Hull have each won at Tiburon Golf Club previously in the CME Group Tour Championship, an individual stroke play format.

The inaugural Grant Thornton Invitational (formerly the QBE Shootout) marks the first official mixed-team event, combining top players from the PGA and LPGA TOUR since the JCPenney Classic in 1999. Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, has continuously been the host course for this PGA TOUR event since 2001. The LPGA players in the field will also be familiar with Tiburon Golf Club, as it has hosted the LPGA’s season-ending event, the CME Group Tour Championship, each year since 2013.

Event Format

This three-day team event will feature three distinct formats each day, including scramble, Foursomes, and modified Four-ball in that order. Modified Four-ball is a brand new format for this event, in which both players will tee off, then switch shots for their second shots and play that ball until holed, with the lower score of the two partners counting as the team score. This should add a bit more excitement and give an extra edge to complimentary pairings.

Tiburon Golf Club

Tiburon Golf Club is a quintessential Florida resort course, featuring generous fairways and greens with Bermuda grass throughout. The course is flat and somewhat susceptible to gusting winds, with several water hazards coming into play throughout the 18-hole layout.

A par-72 from both the men’s and women’s tees, the men will play to the full 7,382 yardage, while the women’s tees total to 6,595 yards. Given the modest yardage and number of water hazards in play, longer hitters have not had a distinct advantage on this course over the years. With that said, prior success at comparable Bermuda resort layouts (Sea Island, PGA National, The Concession) is a plus.

In this quirky team play format, I’ve dialed down my exposure from my usual betting of PGA TOUR golf odds, down to one outright bet at a modest 2U in to pay out 24U. Best of luck with your bets this week!

Sahith Theegala & Rose Zhang

My Bet: +1100
Best Odds Still Available: +1100

Arguably the two most prolific golfers of the past decade on the California collegiate circuit, the Theegala & Zhang team boasts a gear of potential few other teams in this event can match. Theegala has already proven to take a liking to Tiburon Golf Club, winning alongside Tom Hoge in his 2022 QBE Shootout debut. With a win already under his belt this Fall back at the Fortinet Championship, he should feel as confident as ever chasing a title defense.

His partner, Rose Zhang, is one of the most accurate ball strikers on the LPGA TOUR. That’s an ideal profile to complement to Theegala’s game and is reminiscent of Tom Hoge’s skillsets, which already proved to pay dividends alongside Theegala.
