Wyndham Championship bets

The 2024 PGA TOUR golf season continues, with Sedgefield CC next on tap to host the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C., beginning Thursday. Sungjae Im, Billy Horschel, and Shane Lowry headline Wyndham Championship bets this week, as John Haslbauer provides his favorite picks among all the golf odds for this tourney. Below, you’ll find the best odds across betting sites for each player.

The final leg of the PGA TOUR regular season brings us to Greensboro, N.C., for the 2024 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club. The event may not have the greatest reputation, given how the top players have typically used this week as a bye to prep for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. But, with playoff qualification criteria adjusting from the top 125 players in the FedEx Cup Standings to the top 70, there’s far more depth in this field than we’ve become accustomed to seeing.

Below, we’ll go through my Wyndham Championship bets. Click the odds anywhere in this article to place Wyndham Championship wagers. For a full breakdown of the tournament and course, visit my Wyndham Championship preview

HOW I BUILT MY Wyndham Championship BETTING CARD

The weather forecast is ominous at the 2024 Wyndham Championship with hurricane conditions expected to blow through the Carolinas on Thursday and Friday. It remains to be seen what advantage plays out from a tee time wave perspective. That may prove impossible to accurately project, as suspensions may loom. With that in mind, I opted for a longer card of outright exposure, diversifying my exposure across both waves in case a weather advantage does occur. In terms of course fit, I am still emphasizing accurate drivers, with a heightened emphasis on approach play in softer, point-and-shoot conditions.

From a unit allocation standpoint, it’s back to business as usual for my weekly stake at the 2024 Wyndham Championship Open.

  • Outright Wyndham Championship bets – 3.5U in to pay 25U each
  • FRL – 0.5U in to pay out 10U+ each
  • Full Tournament Matchups – 1U in to pay out 2U
  • Props – 1.5U in to pay out 3U+ each

Wyndham Championship BETS: OUTRIGHTS (3.5 UNITS)

Brian Harman
My Bet: +3300
Best Available Odds:

The highest ranked OWGR player in the field will come to a short course ideally suited to his skillsets of finding fairways, generating birdie opportunities, and converting them on his preferred Bermuda green surface. I expected Harman to open as the second favorite behind Sungjae Im this week, considering his OWGR standing, course fit, and recent form. So, I’ll gladly take the discount here, beginning my card further down the board to open room for additional players on my card to combat the random weather we have in store.

Harman comes to Greensboro on a stretch of three top 20s over his last four starts, including a T9 at The Travelers. He’ll look to add to his resume of two prior top-six finishes at the Wyndham Championship this week.

Akshay Bhatia
My Bet: +4500
Best Available Odds:

One of the premier ball strikers on TOUR, this is a great price for Akshay in a relatively thin field. In lift, clean, place conditions, I’m placing slightly more of a premium than usual on approach play. A player of Bhatia’s caliber should be pointing and shooting at pins all week once the wind has passed. This will be a pseudo homecoming for Bhatia as well. He plays out of Raleigh, N.C., and spends much of his time in Wake Forest. He’ll come to Sedgefield CC with two top-five finishes over his last four starts.

Aaron Rai
My Bet: +5000
Best Available Odds:

My official pick to win the 2024 Wyndham Championship, there is no better time than now for Aaron Rai to pick up his first career PGA TOUR victory. Rai will enter this tournament as the No. 1 man in my model, a credit to his sustained ball-striking prowess and improved putting baseline over the last several months. Rai ranks top 10 in SG: Approach, Fairways Gained, Recent Form, and Comp Course History.

While not exactly a Bermuda putting specialist, that was not the case for Lucas Glover either ahead of his 2024 victory. With three top-10 finishes over his last four starts, Rai continues to trend closer and closer towards a victory at Sedgefield CC.

Cam Davis
My Bet: +4000
Best Available Odds:

Cam Davis has not looked back since adopting a new hypnotherapy routine. That adjustment paid immediate dividends with a win at Donald Ross’ Detroit Golf Club, and he’s parlayed that success into encouraging finishes of T26 and T19 in his next two starts. While Davis possesses raw distance off the tee, he’s actually been most dangerous on courses like Sedgefield CC which offer the option to play more conservatively for position. In three prior starts at the Wyndham Championship, he’s finished T22, T15, and T7.

Ben Griffin
My Bet: +8000
Best Available Odds:

Ben Griffin has a clear type of golf course on which he thrives: short, positional, and Bermuda-based. This year, he’s piled up six top-20 finishes on courses that fit that description, rarely finding the top 40 otherwise. Looking through the numbers, Griffin consistently loses strokes to the field off the tee on longer courses but has otherwise been a model of consistency from fairway to green. With recent top-five finishes at the RBC Canadian Open and John Deere Classic, Griffin continues to play well in 2024 and will look to improve on a career-best Wyndham Championship finish of T4 back in 2022.

Mackenzie Hughes
My Bet: +9000
Best Available Odds:

A comp course history play. No course has better correlative trends to performance at Sedgefield CC than Sea Island Resort, which is where Mackenzie Hughes has been at his best. Hughes has a win and two runner-up finishes at the RSM Classic, a credit to his prowess on less-than-driver courses and Bermuda putting.

While not exactly an approach marksman, Hughes is in great form at the moment, coming off of back-to-back top-20 finishes. Ans Sedgefield CC has proven to be a venue where players can putt their way to victory.

Andrew Novak
My Bet: +12000
Best Available Odds:

There have been many highs and lows for Andrew Novak this season, but the highs are all we should be concerned with for an outright longshot this far down the board. At his best, Novak has shown spike approach and putting upside primarily on Bermuda-based courses. He has four top-10 finishes this season, including a T7 at the John Deere Classic three starts ago. The John Deere Classic was Lucas Glover’s most recent win prior to his 2023 Wyndham Championship victory, proving to be a highly correlated event.

Mac Meissner
My Bet: +12000
Best Available Odds:

In his first full year on the PGA TOUR, Mac Meissner has started to establish himself as a consistently precise ball-striker best equipped for positional venues. He was in position to win the Barracuda Championship before Nick Dunlap’s come-from-behind eagle in the closing stretch. But he should leave that event feeling good about the state of his game. Meissner has three top-10 finishes this year and three top-20s over his last four starts.

Ben Silverman
My Bet: +12000
Best Available Odds:

As far as course profile fits go, Ben Silverman’s consistent Driving Accuracy, Approach, and Bermuda putting metrics build a clear case. Silverman has managed five top-20 finishes this season, predominantly coming on the same course style as Sedgefield CC, which rewards finding fairways and hitting a high clip of greens in regulation. With two top-20s over his last five starts, I would not be surprised to find Silverman’s name towards the top of the leaderboard come Sunday.

Wyndham Championship BETS: FIRST-ROUND LEADER (0.5 UNITS)

Aaron Rai
My Bet: +6000
Best Available Odds:

Weather forecast be damned, we are rolling with Aaron Rai for first-round leader in what could become a wire-to-wire week for the Englishman. It’s tough to say where the wave advantage will fall given the likelihood of suspended weather on Thursday and/or Friday. Regardless, Rai’s improved putting and consistent irons will set him up to score in round one.

Akshay Bhatia
My Bet: +6000
Best Available Odds:

In lift, clean, place conditions, I’m circling around the best ball strikers in the field at the Wyndham Championship to point and shoot at flags on Thursday. Akshay is one of the most consistent iron players in this field and enters in great form.

Keegan Bradley
My Bet: +7000
Best Available Odds:

The Ryder Cup Captain hasn’t made many trips to Sedgefield CC in his veteran career, making his first start here since 2017 this week. Normally I would peg that as a concern if a player is actively avoiding a tournament, however the Wyndham is a different animal. I view it as a good thing that Keegan hasn’t needed the FedEx Cup points in years past. In any case, he’s a great course fit with his ball-striking prowess and elevated baseline on Bermuda greens.

Mackenzie Hughes
My Bet: +9000
Best Available Odds:

A soft Sedgefield CC may boil down to a putting contest. And if it does, I’m happy to side with Hughes at these odds. One of the most reliable Bermuda putters in the field, Hughes is in good form to close the year. He should be motivated to chase one of the final Captain’s picks for the upcoming Presidents Cup.

Ben Kohles
My Bet: +11000
Best Available Odds:

With lift, clean, place, there is a heightened advantage for playing out of the fairway, Kohles’ greatest skillset. He ranks No. 1 in Fairways Gained and continues to standout with his Bermuda putting. Ranking top 25 in Driving Accuracy, Greens In Regulation, and SG: Putting, the path is there for Kohles to go low this Thursday.

Wyndham championship BETS: PROPS (2.5 UNITS)

Full Tournament Matchup: Keegan Bradley > Christiaan Bezuidenhout
My Bet: -110

In this matchup, Bradley’s absence of course history seems to be driving his perceived value down compared to Bezuidenhout’s consistently mediocre history at Sedgefield CC. Both players are suitable fits for the course, thriving with short- to mid-irons and putting on Bermuda greens. However, I give a slight edge to Bradley in this matchup for his long-term pedigree and consistency off-the-tee.

Top-20 Finish: Aaron Rai
My Bet: +200
Best Available Odds:

Not that I should need the insurance, but it is classic Wyndham Championship tradition to double down on the conviction play of the week in the placement market. As an added bonus, Rai is better equipped to handle storming rain conditions than the rest of his competitors with his trademark double gloves.

Top-20 Finish: Mac Meissner
My Bet: +425
Best Available Odds:

Meissner is my favorite value on the betting board this week and a player I feel comfortable doubling down on. He’s already posted three top-10 finishes in his rookie season. His consistent ball-striking form should suit the game plan needed to score at Sedgefield CC.

GOLF DAILY FANTASY CONTESTS

Check out my golf DFS picks post for the Wyndham Championship for Underdog drafts strategy, along with traditional DFS contests.

ONE AND DONE

My Pick: Aaron Rai

Obviously. I was not going to allow my conviction winner this week to avoid the OAD card. Rai is likely available in most OAD leagues at this stage of the season, but I expect his ownership will remain in check with other favorites like Sungjae Im, Brian Harman, and Si Woo Kim likely to still be available.

If not Rai, I would also consider playing Akshay Bhatia, Cam Davis, or Brian Harman in OAD.

That’ll do it for this week’s PGA TOUR golf bets. Best of luck this week with your own Wyndham Championship bets, and see you on Sunday for the FedEx St. Jude Championship preview.
