American And Navy Square Off For Patriot League Title

Bucknell and Colgate have been hogging most of the Patriot League NCAA bids in recent years, accounting for seven of the past eight champions. However, Navy managed to upset Bucknell, while American took care of business against Colgate to ensure some fresh blood this year.

As the No. 2 seed, American will host the finals as a true home game here, per Patriot League tournament rules.

Navy went just 6-11 on the road, though they did close the year with three away wins in a row, including a victory at American, 68-60. In fact, Navy swept the season series, winning at home 81-58 in January.

As for team profiles, look for American to have the advantage behind the arc. They bomb away at a top-60 rate and defend well. They also play at one of the slowest tempos in the nation, so this game could take place in the mud late if they have a lead. Both teams also have strong defensive rebounding numbers, so don't expect many second-chance points.
