What Kinds Of Ontario Sports Betting Promos Will Canadians See?

Written By Evan Scrimshaw on April 4, 2022 - Last Updated on April 8, 2022

With non-Proline Ontario sportsbooks going online April 4, the question of what it will mean for bettors in the province is the most interesting one left. The size of the potential new player pool will make the competition fierce and likely lead to Ontario sports betting promos.

How do I find out what special offers are available for Ontario?

The situation for special offers is different in Canada than the United States. Operators are allowed to have them, but regulators forbid advertising such incentives anywhere other than on their own websites or through emails to customer who opt-in.
Unfortunately, this prohibition extends to marketing affiliates like TheLines.

We’re allowed to tell you that such offers might exist, but not whether any particular operator has one or the specifics.

All we can say is this: just click our signup links above and see for yourself. There’s no commitment involved in clicking the link, and you’ll be able to see what, if anything, is on offer once you’ve arrived at the operator’s website.

What we know from the U.S., and especially the experience of the New York sports betting launch earlier this year, is how aggressive books were at offering Ontario sports betting promos to bettors at launch, which while no means a guarantee of what sorts of offers might be coming in Ontario, could be a good guide for those interested in what might be offered.

Approved Online Sportsbooks In Ontario

So far, we only know of three operators with initial permission from the Ontario government – PointsBet, Penn National, and Rivalry Corp – but we know that FanDuel and DraftKings are also looking to be amongst those in the market right away.

There have been reports that there could be up to 30 applicants for bidders, and if you assume that most American books, plus the range of British books that Canadians have had access to on the unregulated market for the last number of years, will be seeking regulatory approvals, the number of options for Canadians could be immense, all of which increase the chances that Ontarians get a chance to profit.

With the NHL playoffs and the Masters both starting in the near-term after the launch of legal, non-ProLine sports betting in Ontario and the fact that the Ontario government will be going to a June election, the desire will be to get as many Ontario players in the market as possible as quickly as possible, to meet both the betting demand and the Ford Government’s political ambitions.

All of this is good news for bettors, who will likely find themselves deluged by the options and promotions available to them, and they should be able to take advantage of the loose money being sprayed around by the rival sportsbooks trying desperately to get the business of as many people as possible.
