Olympic tennis is well underway, with both the men’s and women’s tournaments getting closer to gold medal matches. Earning gold is almost as prestigious as winning a Grand Slam event, part of the so-called “Golden Slam.” In fact, the scarcity of Olympic events makes it more prized in some ways. Read on for a rundown of Olympic tennis odds. Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek have been among the five most-bet athletes at sportsbooks in these Olympics across all sports.

Alcaraz & Djokovic On Collision Course In Men’s Tennis

The inevitable passing of the torch from Novak Djokovic to Carlos Alcaraz as the top dog in tennis may have already happened. Alcaraz claimed the past two majors, including a straight-set steamrolling of Djokovic at Wimbledon.

However, that doesn’t mean Djokovic will go quietly into the night, especially with the one thing that has eluded him in his career at stake for probably the last time.

The Serbian has crushed it pretty much everywhere besides the Olympic stage. There, he has only a 2008 bronze to his name. His Olympic record is rather poor compared to that of his slams, with an opening-round defeat and two other semifinal losses.

Djokovic has cruised through the first two rounds, but things will get tougher if the chalk holds. While he’s expected to easily beat Germany’s Dominik Koepfer, he’ll likely face Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev after that. The former ranks No. 5 in clay Elo rating, while the latter comes in No. 4 and is the defending gold medal winner.

Alcaraz, naturally, sits atop that ranking. Despite his No. 2 seed, he’s the clear favorite according to the market. He looks to be peaking following his dominating summer slam efforts.

If Alcaraz vs. Djokovic does come to pass, look for Alcaraz to once again be favored in the -200 range. The two have split six career meetings, including 1-1 on clay, but neither of those matches took place this year.

Swiatek a Prohibitive Favorite In Women’s Olympic Tennis Odds

When it comes to women’s tennis on clay, Iga Swiatek sits head and shoulders above the competition. Luckily for Swiatek, the Olympics are being contested on her surface of choice, leaving the competition possibly helpless.

How dominant has Swiatek been on clay? She has a 35-2 record at the French Open, having won the tournament four times in the past five years. Her clay Elo is about as far ahead of second place (Aryna Sabalenka) as second is from eighth.

Naturally, the market is well aware of this and has installed her as quite a hefty favorite over the field. Her odds of -250 prior to the quarterfinals imply north of 70% probability that she will take home the gold.

Unlike the men’s draw, which has seen the favorites largely get through, the women’s draw has created some chaos. Only two of Swiatek’s fellow top-eight seeds advanced to the quarters. Notably, Coco Gauff fell victim to an upset and Elena Rybakina withdrew with illness.

Swiatek’s next opponent, Danielle Collins, may provide the most challenge, as she ranks fifth on clay. If not Collins, then possible semifinal opponent Qinwen Zheng ranks sixth.

Perhaps it doesn’t matter who stands in front of Swiatek. She has yet to drop a set while going a collective +21 games so far. It’s going to take a mighty performance to topple her.
