Led by superstar Simone Biles, Team USA tops women’s gymnastics odds by some margin. Team USA has won the past seven world championships, with Biles playing a lead role in five of those. They did come up short at the last Summer Olympics, but the Russian team that won is barred this time around due to international sanctions.
China rounded out the medal podium that year.
In the most recent two worlds, however, other countries have found their way to the podium. Last time out, it was Brazil (silver) and France (bronze). The year prior, Great Britain (silver) and Canada (bronze) medaled.
With several countries seemingly drawing live for silver and looking to challenge Team USA’s dominance, this should be an exciting competition.

World record holder Leon Marchand — he broke Michael Phelps’ mark at the 2023 World Championships — makes for an unsurprising top name here. The French phenom is miles ahead of the competition according to the markets and looks set for a crowning on home turf.
Though Carson Foster ranks second in the markets, he didn’t perform well in the February World Championships. With Marchand not participating, the competition was wide open, and Foster missed out on medaling with a fourth-place finish.
Instead, Lewis Clareburt snagged gold with a time a full seven seconds behind Marchand’s record. Max Litchfield (silver) and Daiya Seto (bronze) also bested Foster.

The 100M breaststroke will be the other featured event on “NBC Primetime.”
This one features a more evenly matched field, with a clear top tier of two, though the markets aren’t aligned on whether Britain’s Adam Peaty or China’s Haiyang Qin should enjoy favorite status. Peaty owns the world record but finished third at the World Championships in February.
He won the semifinal heat, but American challenger Nic Finke beat that time and posted the best of the event en route to gold. Nicolo Martinenghi finished second.
Qin holds the 200M record but is expected to try his hand at the 100M here. In 2023, he posted a time better than any of the 2024 World Championships marks, though obviously shy of Peaty’s world record.
