To identify “value” any given week in golf betting, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the Olympics Men’s Golf competition, Recent Form is the primary statistic factored into the field’s pricing, with the Olympics remaining an unprecedented event to handicap very four years. To exploit value, I’m looking to take a stance on the importance of accurate ball-strikers with proven success on tight, positional venues in order to differentiate my player pool.

Four Sleeper Picks For Olympic Fantasy Golf Contests
Le Golf National is the host for both the Men’s and Women’s golf competitions, a sensible choice considering it remains the active site of the nation’s yearly DP World Tour event, the Open de France. Assuming a similar setup to the Open de France is in store, this week will emphasize positioning off-the-tee and elite mid-iron play to avoid its many water hazards.
Although a limited field of 60 typically drains any betting value, sportsbooks are concentrating the win equity amongst the big-4 of Scottie Scheffler, Xander Scheffler. Rory McIlroy, and Jon Rahm, which creates some appealing betting value for sleepers deeper in this field.
Sepp Straka
Men’s Olympic Tournament | Odds |
---|---|
To Win | +4500 |
Top 5 | +650 |
Top 10 | +250 |
Top 20 | -125 |
1st Round Leader | +3000 |
In a limited, no-cut field of just 60 players, it can be hard to find any discernible betting value on the odds board. I have to say; however, I was surprised to see Sepp Straka’s name available this far down the board. For me, it was really the first round of the Tokyo Olympics where I began to take notice of Straka’s game, jumping out to a commanding first-round lead at Kasumigaseki CC before ultimately settling for a modest T10 finish.
Straka has continued on an upward trajectory ever since, as he’s picked up wins at the Honda Classic and John Deere Classic and earned a spot on the 2023 European Ryder Cup team in the three years that have passed since. When it comes to accurate ball strikers on TOUR, Straka has solidified himself in an elite class for a sustained run now. He ranks top three in terms of Driving Accuracy, SG: Approach, and SG: Putting, the three most important skillsets I’m looking for in a player to tackle Le Golf National. Straka has already picked up three top-5 finishes this season, each coming on venues that reward driving accuracy.
Matthieu Pavon
Men’s Olympic Tournament | Odds |
---|---|
To Win | +6500 |
Top 5 | +850 |
Top 10 | +333 |
Top 20 | -105 |
1st Round Leader | +4000 |
The hometown hero will assuredly have the crowd on his side this weekend. Pavon has been a staple for me amongst Sleeper considerations week-to-week on the PGA TOUR, and I don’t plan to stop now that the Frenchman has earned himself the opportunity to represent the 2024 Olympics’ host nation.
Pavon continues to be the most volatile player on the PGA TOUR, with seven top-20 finishes to go along with eight finishes of T50 or worse so far this season. A field of just 60 players is an ideal place to chase high ceiling upside, however, as a mediocre showing isn’t going to hurt you as much from a Fantasy perspective. Pavon’s game is centered around spike approach and putting upside, so he’ll have ample opportunity to score around Le Golf National as long as he can keep the ball in the fairway. While Pavon’s game hasn’t necessarily proven to suit a specific style, of course, I’m encouraged to see he’s finished top-10 already this season at the Sony Open, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and U.S. Open, which each place a similar emphasis on precise ball striking and positioning off the tee.
Nick Taylor
Men’s Olympic Tournament | Odds |
---|---|
To Win | +18500 |
Top 5 | +2000 |
Top 10 | +650 |
Top 20 | +190 |
1st Round Leader | +6000 |
It hasn’t been the best 2024 season for Nick Taylor, who has crashed down to earth rapidly since winning the WM Phoenix Open in February. But, after his theatrics at Oakdale Golf & Country Club last year, we should know better than to question Taylor’s prospects when given the opportunity to represent his native country. At his best, Taylor is a course manager on shorter venues who can catch fire on approach and lean on his putter as a weapon for scoring.
While the form has cooled off a bit recently, Taylor’s game is less lost than these odds may suggest. He’s made it through the cut in six of his last 10 appearances and now sits firmly on the Presidents Cup bubble. With Royal Montreal looming just two months away, Taylor has a great opportunity sitting in front of him this week to cement himself a place on Mike Weir’s team. With his course fit and flare for big moments in mind, I’m drawn to Taylor as a top-20 placement bet despite the uninspiring recent form.
Emiliano Grillo
Men’s Olympic Tournament | Odds |
---|---|
To Win | +16000 |
Top 5 | +1800 |
Top 10 | +600 |
Top 20 | +175 |
1st Round Leader | +6000 |
Emiliano Grillo was on a short list of Olympians who chose to skip the opening ceremony to golf in Blaine, Minnesota. It could simply be his love for the game, but more likely, Grillo realized that his great course history at the 3M Open and current standing of No. 67 in the FedEx Cup standings made the 3M Open an event to prioritize so he could remain inside the coveted FedEx Cup top-70 and secure guaranteed TOUR status through next season. Regardless, he looked sharp in his previous start, finishing T24.
On paper, Le Golf National is perfectly suited for Grillo’s game as one of the most reliably accurate ball-strikers on TOUR. Grillo’s best career results have come on short positional venues like Harbour Town and Colonial CC, so with his ball-striking continuing to look sharp, I have no concerns going right back to the Argentinian in the placement prop market this week.

GOLF DFS PLAYER POOL
With all the course-fit profiles in mind, I’m leaning early toward the below player pool for golf DFS picks this week. Naturally, I’m also looking their way in the 2024 Olympic Men’s Golf odds. I’ve broken the list down by projected pricing/odds tier for DraftKings.
