However, their star striker, Darwin Nunez, arrives without much match fitness to his name, and with a lack of firepower available, Uruguay may have to settle for 2nd.

Four years ago Saudi Arabia shocked the world beating Argentina 2-1 in Qatar. Since, however, they haven't built on the promise they showed at that tournament. They lost to Jordan in the FIFA Arab Cup and have lost to Serbia, Egypt and Ecuador in friendlies leading up to this World Cup.

Their coach, Bubista, has built something real over six years in charge. The defensive structure is compact and hard to break down. Goalkeeper Vozinha was steady throughout the entire qualifying campaign and will need to be at his very best when Spain and Uruguay come calling.
Still, we can’t call them contenders as they’re not battle-tested from past editions. But their plan is to stay organized against Spain and Uruguay, limit the damage, and then go after Saudi Arabia on the final matchday. This way, they can be among the top eight third-place finishers of the World Cup.
