Baylor Team Notes

• This team should be largely intact offensively. A few defensive contributors are dealing with injury and some rotators hit the transfer portal.
• Won its last six games after a 2-4 start, including over Texas Tech, TCU, and Kansas

LSU Team Notes

• Starting WR C.J. Daniels and SAF Sage Ryan entered the transfer portal
• All-America tackle Will Campbell, and starters OT Emery Jones and TE Mason Taylor all opted out for the NFL Draft.
• Star linebacker Harold Perkins suffered a season-ending ACL injury in late September and won't play
• QB Garrett Nussmeier returns to LSU next season and will play in this game
• Keep an eye on several other starters–CB Zy Alexander, G Garrett Dellinger, SAF Major Burns, and others–to opt out
• Offensive line could be down four starters in this game to injury and the NFL

Texas Bowl betting

Last year, Oklahoma State took care of a disinterested Texas A&M team undergoing massive changes to the coaching staff. The Pokes won, 31-23, as -3.5 favorites in the game. Under 55 hit by just a point, making it the second straight total to miss by a sliver.

The year prior, Texas Tech handily beat Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss team, 42-25. The Red Raiders were +4.5 underdogs in the game, covering with ease. The point total fell shy of its 72.5-point standing, but just barely. A 28-point fourth quarter put what should have been a comfortable cash into real jeopardy (or a letdown for Over ticket holders).

Kansas State in 2021 was the lone favorite in some time to cover the points in the Texas Bowl. Previously, four straight underdogs cashed and three of those underdogs won outright. Favorites and underdogs are split evenly 8-8-1 since 2006. Underdogs won outright in six of those eight covers. Overs and unders alternated covers in each of the last five games, but unders are 11-6 since 2006.
