Triathlon Summer Olympics schedule
Triathlon takes place on July 30, July 31, and August 5 – each day awarding a medal.
How Does The Triathlon Work?
The triathlon is a race comprised of three different styles: swimming, cycling, and running. Athletes swim for 1500 meters, bike for 40 kilometers, and run for 10 kilometers. Unlike track & field, there are no heats in the triathlon, only divisions between men and women. In 2020, a mixed-sexes relay was introduced and will continue in 2024.
The sport first became an Olympic one in 2000 and, since then, 16 countries have taken home a total 39 medals. No country has more than three golds.
How to bet on the Olympics
The most straightforward way to bet on the Olympics is via a moneyline bet. Those wagering simply choose a country or individual athlete to win an event/gold medal.
For instance, Simone Biles might be favored -250 to win the gold medal. Because Biles is the favorites to win, your return for betting her to win would be minimal. At -250 odds, a $20 bet on Biles to win would net you just $8 if she came through.
Many bettors prefer betting “plus-money” because of the better potential returns. For instance, Jordan Chiles might be +300 to win the gold. A $20 bet on Chiles to win at +300 odds would get you a $60 win and an $80 payout.
Other ways to bet on the Olympic games will include individual medal counts and country-by-country medal counts.
